*Sabrina’s POV*

It’s about time for me to get this surprise Ashton told me about yesterday, and I couldn’t wait any longer.

“Put on your costume.” Ashton tells me as soon as I pick an outfit out of my suitcase.

“Are we going swimming?” I ask, digging through my case for my bikini.

“Yup! Going for a little late night dip.” He wiggles his eyebrows at me and I laugh quietly, retreating to the bathroom to change into my bikini. I slip on my denim shorts and walk out to find Calum on his bed, flipping through the channels on the TV. Ashton already has his swim trunks on when I slide my feet into my black thongs.

“You have fun, you crazy kids!” Calum winks at us when we’re about ready to go down to the pool.

“Shut up Cal!” I laugh as we walk out of the room.

We make it down to the blue, lit up pool and Ashton sets up his phone to a speaker to play music throughout the pool space.

“So, this is the rockstar life, huh? Getting a whole pool to ourselves?” I tease as I pull down my shorts and kick off my thongs.

He chuckles, “We’re hardly rockstars, babe. I had to beg Matt to ask for the pool for us.”

“Well, I love it.” I smile at him. If a nice, relaxing late night swim on this warm summer night with my best friend was my ‘surprise’, I’ll gladly take it over any other extravagant surprise any day.

I look up at him to see him gawking at my body and for the first time in…well, ever, I felt self-conscious.

“Stop staring, Ash.” I laugh quietly, resting both my arms over my exposed stomach to shield me.

“Sorry.” He chuckles, catching himself and he shakes his head.

“Let’s get in, yeah?” I nod my head towards the beautiful pool by us.

Ashton nods in agreement, “Yeah. Run and jump?”

“Let’s do it.” I grin. We hold hands and face the pool, getting a running start and jumping into the water in cannonballs. We resurface as laughing fools, paddling ourselves around.

“God, this pool feels even better at night, when there’s nobody around.” I sigh happily, floating on my back with a smile on my face.

“I know.” He sighs as well and I start to float normally, facing him again. He looks deep in thought, just staring at me and I stare back at him, watching him with a stupid and confused smile.

“What are you thinking?” I ask, narrowing my eyes at him as if I was able to read through to his mind.

“I just missed you.” He shrugs one shoulder, his dimples showing themselves to me as he smiles a closed-mouth smile.

“I’ve been with you for, like, two months!” I giggle.

“I know, but I just missed hanging out with you like this…just the two of us. Like old times.”

“I missed it too.” I nod, finding myself bringing my body closer to his in the water.

“I wanna try something.” He smiles that mischievous smile he’s always had since we were kids, and I immediately agree.
