- Jaeger's Songbird -
Chapter One: Paralyzed
As a young girl kept her grunts quiet, she passed by a door as silent as she possibly could. Her deep red hair ruffled past her shoulders as her arms acted much like legs and dragged her towards the kitchenette area. Amethyst eyes furrowed in determination.
Her and her grandmother were fortunate enough to have a house with two rooms. She sighed and climbed up on a chair, her arm strength very enduring for a child. With a feminine grunt, she picked herself up to sit in the chair placed beside the table, her book already laid there.
"See, I told Papa I could get to the table by myself." She muttered, opening the book filled with words of an obsolete language. Other than her and her grandmother, her father still picking up the dialect, no one that she knew could speak it. Then again the amount of people she knew was more limited than the amount of language-speakers. As she began challenging herself with the big words on the paper, a creaking sound was heard and she flinched. How long had she been out of her room?!
(1)"Anya? Chto vy delayete v posteli?" Her grandmother snapped as she walked tiredly into the livingroom area.
(2) "Babushka! YA ne videl tebya. Mne ochen' zhal! YA khotel, chtoby prochitat' nemnogo, i vy spali. YA khotel, chtoby ne bespokoit' vas."
The elderly woman sighed and made her way over to the table. "Dear, Anya. Babushka would do anything to keep your heart alive. And if waking me up to read literature is all you wish, than wish it and it shall be." She murmured sweetly, kissing her granddaughter on the cheek.
"Oh, Babushka!" Anya exclaimed happily, knowing that all time with her grandmother was dearly precious. The young girl had no idea how much time the two had left to be together. Throwing her arms around her, Anya was content in this old apartment with enough food to get by, her grandmother and books. As long as her and her grandma got to read and sing all day, she could love the life that seemed so short.
"Babushka?"
"Yes, Anya?"
" Armin told me that the guards at the gate actually saw a Titan. Do you think Papa has trouble with them?"
The elderly woman sighed. Alena Kozlov looked up at the green cloak and pair of swords mounted on the wall. It's been years since she's been on the battle field and she was one of the rare ones who actually could own up to the word 'retirement' because of her old age. Not because of death.
Although since she was not as young as she use to be, taking care of her beloved granddaughter had become hard to do. In thanks of her services, the king appointed a younger member of the Survey Corps, the same department she surved, to take care of her whenever she appointed. Although she wanted to call him as much as she can to keep one more life off of that death bed, she knew his life was dedicated to taking down the titans. Just like hers was.
"No. I belive Corperal Levi is as tough as nails."
Anya giggled and happily awaited the day's hours as she wondered where the man that had taken care of her when he could, could be. He wasn't her biological father. No, her biological one died two months after she was born battling the titans. It was safe to say whenever she thought of a face that would qualify as her dad, it was him. Anya vaugely wondered if Levi even love her the same way.
