Chapter Five: Simmer
Two kids, a redhead and a blonde, walked through the district of Shinganshina. They passed by a few soldiers who were talking about an exciting event that took place that night. The redhead immediately started jumping up and down in excitement once the guards passed, but the blonde stood there anxiously.
"Ooh! Armin, Music Festival! Lets go!"
"I don't know. Maybe we should tell Babushka where we're headed to first." Armin suggested, placing his hands in his pockets.
Anya frowned and placed her hands on her hips. That afternoon the pair of cousins heard that all in the district of Shiganshina would partake in a music festival. Although technically all citizens of Wall Sina would be the ones to have parties, the poorer districts like Wall Maria would have one every once in a while. The capital sent a bit of food down, so everyone would at least settle the rumbling of their stomach for a day.
"She already knows. She was talking to Mrs. Jaeger about it! Now let's go!"
Armin knew that was a lie, but decided to just go along with it. She seemed to forget he was with her since the two woke up. Indeed, Alena conversed with Mrs. Jaeger that morning, but there was no way she listened in. He really did not want to go. He had a feeling that something terrible would happen at this festival. Rolling his eyes, he continued to walk by his cousin's side when they spotted three familiar faces.
"Eren! Mikasa! Mrs. Jaeger!" Anya yelled and the family looked their way. Mikasa and Eren did their own versions of smiles. The four friends grouped together as Carla finished up her shopping.
"Did you guys here about the festival tonight?" Eren questioned and the cousins nodded their heads.
Mikasa tugged on her scarf, a light smile on her lips. Their guardians hardly let them all play outside at night. It was a give that they would let them go to the festival. She wouldn't show it, but Mikasa was just as excited. If not, more.
"Let's all meet up by the pier." Armin suggested, looking for everyone's thoughts on the matter. Anya and Eren high fived each other and Mikasa just sighed.
"Alright. Fine. We'll all meet at the pier by sundown," the blonde relented, giving up his wants.

Armin and Anya walked all around the town, lanterns lighting their way as they past dancing couples and stands.
"See, Armin? Nothing to be afraid of! We practiclly know everybody around these parts." Anya exclaimed, drinking some sweet drink called 'juice'. Armin shrugged and drunk some tea.
"Yeah, I guess. We should be meeting Mikasa and Eren soon," Maybe he was paronoid? He couldn't help it though, if kids beat him up in broad daylight, what would a bunch of drunk adults do in the shadows of night?
As if proving his point, Armin and Anya ran into a man passing out little candies. He chuckled and gave one to the both of them. They grinned excidetly and thanked him. The man wore a silly mask and black clothes. He bent down and waved. "Are you two enjoying the festival?" They nodded, but Armin seemed weary.
"So much fun! I like the diffrent instruments. I really like that one!" Anya pointed towards a woman strumming a guitar, the melody overwhelming the air with calm and silky baritones. Whispering into the air in a deep voice, urging the listeners of the music to enjoy this beautiful night in their not-so-beautiful prison. Armin nodded his head in agreement.
"Ah, the guitar. A beautiful choice for such a beautiful young girl," the man said, making Anya blush. He chuckled and turned towards her blonde cousin. "What about you, young lad? Any instruments you love?"
