Chapter Eight

-Scalding-

"Papa!"

Anya and Victoria jumped in shock, but shared a look and pretended that they did nothing wrong. Technically they had not done anything wrong, but they were definently contemplating on it.

Levi was walking with another man in tow, Anya noticed. This man was really tall and big. Way bigger than her father. He had blonde hair that was slicked back neatly and glowing green eyes. He also had the biggest eyebrows she had ever witnessed in her nine years of life. They were so outrageous that she choked on her own saliva to keep from laughing. It was then that she remembered her father saying 'Eyebrows' on the carriage ride to Malayna's and her cheeks began to grow warm from holding in the giggles. One slipped and she coughed.

"Hey, Papa! How was your meeting?" Anya smiled brightly. She ran over to him and hugged his leg tightly, rubbing her cheek on his thigh.

Levi hummed and picked up Anya with a suspicious eye. She only asked about his day if she did something bad, like spill tea on the floor or getting ink all over her clothes. She usually just blabbers on about how much fun she had that day and what all she did. "It sucked. It was boring as hell."

The man beside Levi snorted with a quirk of a smile. Levi, unlike him so, brought the child closer to balance on his hip. Man, the years had flew! She was no longer the little brat that kept quiet and kept her pretty eyes hidden away from whatever adult spoke to her. No, now she wasn't afraid to babble to anyone and Levi prayed that she could stay this way. He took on the thoughts of any father with their baby girl. He felt like if he blinked she would be twenty-something years old in the arms of a man and getting married. He re-shifted her to make it seem like she was slipping, but in actuality he was holding her closer.

Erwin was not a blind man, nor was he a clueless one. As the girl talked about how her and the other child, Victoria, searched the town all day, Erwin noticed how Anya nestled closer to the man. Her head laid on his shoulder.

"...We had a lot of fun, Papa! So I'm giving you some of my fun points to make up for the boring day." Anya stated as if it were fact, lifting up her head to smile at him.

Levi smirked and rose a brow, "Is that so? Maybe you can tell me what part of the day was messing with that sewer lid about?" He questioned idly and Anya looked over at Victoria.

Victoria, in return, took a shy glance at the Commander and Lance Corporal of the Survey Corps. Erwin watched her closely as she smiled lightly and looked down at a caterpillar. "Don't you think this bug is fascinating? It has so many legs to travel on. I was asking Anya did she think if he ever got tired?"

"He has to get tired!" Anya yelled excitedly, sliding down Levi to get on the ground and ran towards the bug. "He has to give a bit of energy to every single leg!" She had went to pick it up but her dad hoisted her into the air before she could, mumbling something about 'bacteria', 'filth' and 'disgusting ass bug'.

Levi's eyes narrowed at the girl named Victoria. She knows that Anya has a rather short attention span, so it was easy to suck his daughter into her lies. Victoria laughed along with Anya when Levi placed her back on the ground.

"C'mon, kids, lets walk you back home."

Armin and Allison sat in the local book shop, both talking immensely about what their plans were for the future.

"Anya really wants to join the Survey Corps with our best friend, Eren. They have this dream that they can eradicate the titans," Armin explained to the girl, smiling when Allison gasped in shock.
