Chapter Seven
-Shiver-"You should count yourselves lucky that Eyebrows and I have a meeting to attend in Sina. If Maylana urkes your nerves to much, you two can crash with us."
Anya and Armin nodded as the carriage slowed to a stop, Anya vaugely wondering who in the heck was 'Eyebrows'. Levi hopped out of the damn box and helped the two kids out of the high jump. They stood in front of an impressively large house for Sina standards. Silently, Levi held out a hand to each child and the two held on tight.
Anya grumbled as she dragged her feet up to Malayna's house. She refused to call her mom. Already she was recieving bad memories. So did Armin.
"I'm ready to go home," Anya whined as they arrived at the doorstep.
Armin agreed with a quick "Yeah, me too." That Levi promptly ignored.
Her father knocked on the door and waited. A few moments later, a man appeared. He wore a nice tux and glasses. His blue eyes darted to the two kids and he forced a smile.
"You must be Anya and Armin! Please, come in. My wife has been expecting you."
Levi's brow rose. 'Oh? So she remarried, hm?' The shorter man squeezed on tighter to the childrens' hands and lead them inside. They all removed their shoes. When Anya placed her worn out black slippers together, Malayna's husband frowned in disgust. She secretly rolled her eyes. 'If they're not shiny and brand new their worthless. Whatever'.
Alena had attempted to dress her grandchildren a bit nicer than their standard Ziganshina garb. Anya wore a green dress that she simply adored because Alena sewed a tiny emblem on the breast pocket. The Wings of Freedom. A red bow was wrapped around her waist and her wild curly hair was teased so that half of her hair was up and the other half down to surround her baby-ish face.
Armin wore a simple pair of slacks, a cleaner button down and a knitted-like cardigan. The blonde felt highly uncomfortable, the house decorated in paintings. A beautiful photograph of Malayna's new family hung in the living room for all to see.
"I'll go retrieve her. Take a seat, take a seat!"
Armin huddled closer to Levi, even though he was still terribly afraid of the man. Levi sighed and patted his head, letting the two children lean against him for comfort. Honestly he couldn't blame them. The man who showed them in couldn't even try to hide his glare at their shoes. 'Damn rich bastards.' It was already terrible that Levi had to return to Sina, he also had to ensure that if he and Anya were walking together no one would know the relationship between the two. Now, if someone asked he wouldn't deny that that was his daughter, he just had bad blood with certain people of Sina.
After a while, a woman and two girls entered the living room.
Anya was the spitting image of Malayna. Porcelain skin, fiery red hair, emerald eyes. All Anya needed was height and they could have been identical.
Anya seemed to notice Levi's inner thoughts because she pulled on her red hair, quite annoyed with the curls.
"Anya, Armin, its good to see you two. These are my step-daughters Lydia and Allison. I have one more, but she's not in at the moment."
The one named Lydia crossed her arms and grit her teeth, "Victoria's probably out playing in dirt again." She spat and the one named Allison smiled bashfully.
She walked up to Armin and Anya and shook their hands, as well as Levi's. "Welcome to Sina! You guys will be staying in my room." She reffered to the two cousins. "Thank you for everything you do, Corporal Levi. I hope you all will enjoy your visit!" She exclaimed shyly with a burning blush when she shook the older man's hands. Anya recognized that blush. It was the blush she adorned whenever she looked at Eren! Allison liked her DAD!
