december 18th

I woke up this morning to the sound of an unknown phone calling. It was a phone ring that I had never heard before. I turned over in my bed to find Shawn fast asleep beside me. I shook him, attempting to wake him up so that he could answer his phone before I went crazy.

He groggily reached over to his phone and slid across the button so he could answer it. He was silent for a few minutes while someone on the other end talked to him.

"Okay. Yeah. I'll see you then man. Thank you," he yawned. He ended the phone call.

"Who was that?" I sat up beside him.

"My manager. He wants me to get out and about today for the press."

He put his head in his hands as he sat on the side of the bed. I noticed that it was nearly eleven o'clock, meaning we had slept nearly half the day away.

He walked into the bathroom to use the toilet and when he came out he walked over to the fridge.

"Do you want some breakfast?" he asked, closing the door. I didn't really have much too eat in my kitchen.

"I mean, I am kind of peckish but I'm fine."

He walked over to the bed and grabbed ahold of my hands so that we were both sitting on the edge of the bed as he tried to wake himself up.

"I'll bring home something."

I noticed he related to my home as his home, which made me wonder what he was particularly meaning.

"How long do you think you'll be?" I asked, quickly changing the topic.

"Probably a few hours. What are you going to do all day?" he asked. I lay on my back on the bed as he hovered over me, one hand on the side of my body and the other holding his own head up.

"I don't really do much," I giggled, "Probably just wait for you to get back."

He leant down and kissed my lips softly. I smiled when he pulled away, just because he made me happy.

"I won't be long. I promise," he smiled, throwing his pinkie finger in my face. I tied my pinkie around his and we both laughed. He climbed up from the bed and made his way over to the door.

"Bye Shawn," I smiled, leaning on my elbows on the duvet.

He smiled and nodded his head as he threw one of his hands in his pocket. He quietly opened the door of the apartment and made his way out slowly. As soon as he left, a girly scream erupted into the building.

I quickly jumped from my bed and swung the door open to make sure nobody was hurt. Shawn stood wide eyed next to Grace, who was just staring at him - her mouth agape.

"You're... You're...," she gasped.

"Grace, you might want to come inside," I shrugged, opening my door further for her to come inside.

Shawn grinned back at me with his sleepy smile and continued walking back to his own apartment, where his key worked perfectly.

Grace stumbled into my apartment and smacked me on the shoulder upon entry.

"You didn't tell me FREAKING Shawn Mendes was in your apartment building!" she yelled at me as I closed the door. I shrugged my shoulders and looked down to the ground, which usually indicated I was hiding something.

"Oh my god. You're totally boning him aren't you Chloe?" she whacked me with the couch pillow.

"No! No, no Grace. It's not like that!"

"How long have we not talked for? Since when did you know Shawn Mendes!?" she cried.

"I don't know," I said nervously.

"Does this not make you excited?" she cried again.

"Okay Grace, calm down. I swear I will tell you everything if you just be quiet. He only lives next door you know!"

Grace pulled out her phone and instantly raised the phone to her ear.

"Who the hell are you calling? I just said-"

"Lola. She needs to get over here so you can tell us everything."

I shook my head.

Boy oh boy, did I have some explaining to do.

The night went how it typically did as we spent most of the night in front of the television, watching pointless dramas and drinking hot cocoa.

I had explained everything to them both, all up the fact that he stayed the night at my apartment last night. But nothing happened.

"You do realize that he's going back home in like, three days don't you?" Grace groaned. No, that thought surprisingly hadn't crossed my mind.

"And the ice-skating date, nobody noticed you?" Lola cried, "How!"

"I don't know, I guess when people are with their families they tend to pay more attention to them than two teenagers skating around an ice-skating rink," I laughed.

Every time I tried to change the subject back to one of their lives, it somehow managed to come back to me. I was sick of talking about myself and my love life that was barely existent.

I looked over at the clock and noticed it was nearly ten p.m. The day had flown by. Shawn had messaged earlier to say he got caught up in last minute interviews and press that he just didn't have time to make it back to the apartment for the afternoon.

Just as the girls were leaving, the elevator dinged. I always knew it was going to be Shawn as nobody else lived on my apartment floor. The three of us stood at the door as he stumbled out with three plastic bags of takeaway.

"I am so sorry love," he cried, stumbling out of the elevator with his security guards. The two of them walked straight into Shawn's room and he didn't even give them a second look before walking into mine.

I stood at the foot of the door and held it open for Shawn as he pushed his way past Grace and Lola. He dropped the plastic bags on the counter, and slowly put down a cup tray that was in his other hand.

"I hope you guys like Chinese. It's literally all that is open in this kind of snow," he grinned, pulling the bags off the food.

Grace and Lola both looked at each other for a second and shrugged. They walked back into the apartment making small conversation between them.

I told Shawn they were still over, so he got enough Chinese for the four of us. I admired him as he joked around with my two friends (one of which he had just met). Occasionally, he looked over to me to see what I was doing.

I closed the door behind me and slowly walked over to the bench where he was leaning, waiting for me to take some food. Grace and Lola moved over to the couch where they laughed about some old Friends episode currently on television.

"Thank you for this. I'm starving," I smiled. Shawn softly kissed my lips as he leant over the bench to reach me. He offered me one of the cartons of Chinese, and brushed my hair over my ear.

The four of us sat on the couch and giggled into the early hours of the morning. I don't think any guy that I've ever been remotely attracted to had ever gotten along with my two best friends as Shawn did that night.

At four a.m. both Grace and Lola went back to their own apartments, while Shawn and I fell asleep on the couch after copious amounts of Chinese in our stomachs.
