Chapter Two

- Alessandra -

*Two classes later*

The bell rings. It's the end of another day of school. I leave the classroom to go to my locker to get the sweatshirt that Austin gave me. As I'm reaching into my locker I feel a hand go over my face. I turn around quickly to see my best friend Ben.

"Oh my god Ben! You scared me!", I yell. Ben laughs and almost falls to the floor. It's been our thing since we met in 6th grade that we scare each other which he always wins because he's not as gullible as I am. Well I'm a girl so it's easier to scare a girl.

"So Al, I heard about the necklace that Austin got you. Is it fake?"

"Ben! No! Are you kidding me? Why would you say that?", I scream and punch his arm.

"I'm just kidding! Geez Al, you're strong have you been lifting?"

I roll my eyes. What a best friend I have, our friendship consists of him making fun of me.

"Well I gotta go. I gotta go to work", I say while I close my locker and walk away.

I walk outside to find my car which is a Jeep Rangler that my Dad got me for my 16th birthday. I hop into the front seat and turn on the car. I turn the radio on and Austin's song "11:11" is on. He wrote this song about me right before he asked me out because he's been wishing to ask me out for months right after we met.

*Flashback*

"I don't know if this song is good or not, when I was on the plane on my way to New York I wrote this about you.", Austin says as he's holding his red guitar.

"Sing it for me anyways babe, I'm sure it's perfect.", I say while gazing at him.

"Okay here it goes..", he says and starts to sing and play his guitar.

Austin looks up from his guitar.

"That was amazing Austin! It's absolutely perfect! I'm pretty sure your Mahomies are going to love it just like I did", I said while tears roll down my face.

Austin smiled and said, "Thank you Alessandra."

*End of Flashback*

When I got on the highway on my way to work, my phone rings. I look down to see who it is and it's Austin.

I answered it and put my phone on speaker.

"Hello?"

"Alessandra? Where are you?", Austin asks.

"I'm on my way home. Why? What's wrong?"

"Come home right away..", he says in a hurry.

"Austin what's going on?!"

*beep* I lost signal. I have to get home right away..

*20 minutes later*

I pulled up in the driveway of my house and I see Austin on the steps. I run out of the car and yell to Austin, "What's going on?!", Austin looks at me and points to the front door.

I run inside to see my brother sitting on the couch crying.

"Joe?!", I scream and he looks up.

"Alessandra.. Oh my god! I came home from school and.. I..", he says frantically.

"And you what?", I say as I start to get impatient.

"I-I found Dad in the garage"

"And he was doing what?"

Joe points to the garage door and says "Go look.."

A million thoughts are running through my head. I don't know what to do. What will I find Dad like when I go in there? Is he dead?

- Austin -

I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe Alessandra's brother called me instead of calling her first.. I don't know what Alessandra's going to do when she finds out that her father passed away.

The front door opens quickly and I turn around to see Joe hysterical crying.

"It's all my fault..", he says.

"How is it your fault?"

"I-I decided not to help Dad fix what he needed to fix and then I heard a scream while I was in the kitchen and I found him on the floor. There was a leak with the AC and the water electrocuted my father. It's all my fault."

"Joe, it's not your fault.", I say as I put my arm around him. He turns to me and starts crying on my shoulder. "It's gonna be okay.."

- Alessandra -

I open the garage door and I walk down the stairs to see my father lying on the floor. I run over to see what's wrong with him and I feel no pulse. I frantically scream "Dad are you okay" and "Daddy please come back, please be alive" but no response. My fathers dead.

I got up from kneeling and I suddenly got dizzy. A few seconds later everything turned black...

Minutes passed and I was woken up by my body being shaked around by my brother and Austin. I hear them screaming my name and I don't know what's going on.

"What's going on? What happened?", I scream while sitting up.

"Al! You're awake! You fainted and we found you in here but you weren't out for long", Austin says.

"Does Mom know? What about Steph and Sam?", I ask. I never thought about Mom. Ever since our parents got divorced a couple of months ago we were never a whole family anymore.

"Steph and Sam are at work but I'm not sure if I should call them or not and-"

"Uh! Yeah Joe! We have to call them! They have to know", I scream.

"Okay and as I was saying, Mom does not know either."

I run up the stairs to the house phone and I called both my sisters and they're on their way from work. Then I called my Mom and she started hysterical crying mainly because she feels bad that my brother Joe found him when he was by himself. I feel bad for Joe too because he's only 11 and he has to live with this for the rest of his life. And he probably has regrets and thinks its his fault which it's not. If I were him I would feel the same way so I don't blame him. He's my brother and I don't want him feeling horrible about himself.
