"Have you ever thought about running away?" I asked him picking at the grass beneath us.
He sighed before answering.
"Of course I have." He paused and turned his head to me. "Why?"
I sat for a moment looking up at the sky painted in different shades of dark blues and purples. I should've been home by now.
I shrugged looking away. "I've been thinking about it a lot lately."
"Don't run." He insisted putting his hand on mines. He rubbed his thumb over the same spot he'd always rub his thumb on. Over the scar on my right knuckle, I never understood why.
I looked down at his hand then up into his eyes. They were big and brown and I got lost every time I looked into them.
"What if I asked you to come with me?"

That day I didn't go with her. I told her that no problem was so big to where she'd have to run from it, that we could stick it out here together. I remember her smiling and telling me okay. We had spent the rest of that night and into the morning together.
But then the next day, she was gone and I'd never heard or seen from her again.
