Joji picked me up and kept staring at me. My hair was done up and pulled back leaving a trail of curls behind me. My dress was a dark blue and sleeveless. It was long trailing to the floor. At the top over my breasts were small little sparkles that went down the right side until they just faded away. My heels were black and simple with a strap around my ankles.
"What?" I asked finally as we rode in his car. He drives such a nice car I wonder how he can afford it.
"Nothing, you just look really beautiful." Joji's words shocked me. I sat back and stared ahead not knowing what to say.
"You did say to dress nice." I said quietly.
"I did, and I'm starting to regret that now." he sighed.
"Why?" I'm confused. Was I really supposed to dress normal? This is a ball we're going to right?
"Because..." he hesitated. "I don't know if I want other guys to see you looking so ravishing." the way he said that so easily left me breathless. Kyo would have never been able to say that. I smiled and looked at my hands blushing. It's always nice to here such genuine compliments from men.
"Well, thank you. You look very handsome too." I said with a brilliant smile on my face.
"Of course I do!" we both laughed. His confidence gives me confidence and I like that. Really Joji is a good guy who's easy to get along with. I cloud see us becoming good friends someday.
We arrive to the hall where the ball is being held and Joji helps me out of the car then a valet takes his car away. We walk in with me on his arm and his hand sprayed across my back leading me through the thick crowd. I never liked crowds. They make me feel vulnerable.
"I can see you guys. Can you hear me?" Kyo's voice appeared in the ear piece in my ear.
"Kyo?" I asked not meaning to.
"Yeah what's up? Hey are those your really boobs your showing off down there?" I heard him laughing.
"You ass!" I said just loud enough for him to hear me.
"Knock it off guys. We're here on a mission remember!" Joji interrupted us. "And obviously they're real dumbass! They wouldn't be so soft otherwise." Joji said that so easily I wanted to smack him as I heard Kyo's gorgeous laughter ringing in my ear. Hearing him laugh made me smile. We walked around for a while just looking at everything that was on display.
"The painting is on the second floor that looks over the dance floor. Ichigo found it but can't get to it right now because cops are hanging around." Kyo filled us in on what was happening so far. I looked to the side and froze.
"Oh shit," I said. Joji and Kyo kept asking me what was wrong but their voices were so far away now they were nothing more then a murmur. My body grew hot and tense. Tatsuro stood only feet before Joji and I and I had no idea what to say.
"Nyx? What are you doing here?" he said with a suspicious smile. I know what he's thinking. I've been able to read his mind since we were twelve.
"Just my job." I lied. "I'm here with my friend to talk up some potential donators for the museum." I've never lied so hard in my life. It's hard to lie to him. He's my friend and I care about him. I don't want to hurt him. I don't want to hurt anyone.
"Oh yeah? You came to a place like this for that? Seems like a waste. You got all dressed up so you should enjoy yourself a little." Tatsuro's voice changed. I know he knows I noticed. How could I not?
"Well it is my job. I should get back to it now and so should you." I smiled and waved him off. "But we should go for drinks sometime soon okay?"
"Yeah that sounds good. We'll bring my sis too!" Tatsuro knows I'm just trying to get rid of him. Why are we beating around the bush so badly? "See ya Nyx. Be careful."
