i stood outside waiting for mia to come around to help with my things and with her car for a ride to my new home. i didn't see ky last night or this morning but her stuff was still in the house so i knew she would come back at some point. i felt bad for not giving some kind of warning that i was leaving and when the next bills come in she'd be paying along but honestly she hadn't given me an notice that she'd be gone for this long.
a car pull in front of me and since i didn't recall ever seeing it i assumed it was mia. she stepped out of the car with nick by her side. "ew why did you bring him?" i asked looking him over in his fake leather jacket and skinny jeans with a simple black and white striped tight turtleneck. he smiled mockingly knowing it was a joke.
i liked that fact that we were able to joke around without offending the others, it was almost as though we'd known each other for longer than a day but there were things that told you we weren't that close. for example we only knew as much as each other's first name and for all i know i could be moving in with a mass killer just let out of jail but who cared at this point, i've gone miles from home and am still living right now.
"i know i didn't want to either but he told me he needed to move in today so unfortunately with have to deal with this one a day before we expected, i didn't plan this out and i wasn't prepared." she shook her head giving him a glare.
"you know millions of women would be blessed." he smirked at me looking me up and down taking in my appearance. he was a total fuckboy, but he could play guitar so we weren't complaining all too much.
"whatever, let's get going." i told them taking my single duffle bag which was actually just ky's but she wouldn't notice a bag missing and i could easily sneak it back into this house sometimes in the future if she needed it back or as a peace offering.
i put the bag into the back of the car and went around the side of the car to sit in the backseat. nick took the drivers as i somewhat planned he would do and then mia got in the back with me. "i don't trust that seat with him driving." she narrowed her eyes at him.
"i am an amazing driver and i find that very offensive." nick said looking at us with fake hurt as i moved to the middle seat. i put both buckles around me. "okay ready." i told him. he looked back and then started laughing. mia joined and finally i cracked joining as well.
i undid them and scooted over buckling once. "so your roommate is cool wit this?" i asked mia as the car started to move. "she doesn't really care, we need help paying the bills and also i like all you guys, in other words i like you so she will like you. we are basically twins." she told me with a chuckle. i envied the fact that she had such a good friendship but i didn't doubt the fact that we'd get there someday.
"okay." i told her with a shrug. "i mean your house is much, and i mean much, nicer than ours. from the outside it's nothing really special, nick can confirm, but from the inside, it's all new even if the rooms are on the small side." she told me. nick nodded confirming what she had said.
"size doesn't matter to me, i just need a place and people who want me around." i told her with a shrug. "good." she told me with a smile.
~*~
we went about an hour south of where i was living in evanston but i didn't mind if i went far from there since i knew it would be awkward if i saw ky around town, i didn't want to be rude or anything i just knew what i was doing was somewhat wrong. this was her idea and i kind of just went about it without bothering to tell her.
part of me did feel bad for her but at the same time i can't keep mending to what she wanted, i need to do something, go somewhere, where i feel wanted and don't have the need to runaway. although it's selfish, i wanted to do something for myself now.
nick pulled into a somewhat small house but from the outside it looked well kept with some flowers planted around the front of it. it looked well kept as well, the bricks weren't decaying away and the front yard didn't have dead, decaying grass.
"this is our humble home." she leaned over the chair to grab her car keys from nick. he got out of the car and i followed closely. i liked the house, it wasn't the most stunning but it didn't look terrible, better than the ones around it. we were also somewhat placed on the main road but part of me was okay with the constant white noise. i grabbed my bag and followed mia inside the house where she hollered out for her friend.
a girl with short black hair, a lot like ky's before she lazily cut her own bangs, entered the foyer area where we had been standing in. she smiled warmly. "i am heather." she told me with a small smile tucking some hair behind her ear. her hair was short and just below her jawline maybe a little longer.
she smiled smally at all of us. "well welcome, let me show you some of the spare rooms and around the place." she told us with another smile spreading over her face. she turned on her heel and started walking mia followed closely by her side. as for nick and i, we followed closely behind making sure to not get lost.
"first bedroom is right here and this isn't taken if one of you guys want it." she said showing off the room on the bottom floor. we nodded following her to some stairs as she showed off some more rooms.
she led us upstairs. "there isn't much to show up here, there used to be seven people in this house and only five bedrooms, really there are only four bedrooms but the office is kind of a bedroom, or can be, so mia and i share a room, or shared, but we don't mind sharing another to help pay the bills which is why we are going to just keep what we have up here since we've got the master." heather didn't look back as she showed off her well kept room.
she led us downstairs were nick and i claimed the two rooms next to each other. i claimed the smaller room which didn't really matter to me because there wasn't much of a difference. nick's room was a bit odd seeing there wasn't a door to his closet inside his room but i don't think he minded too much.
the basement had a large family room with a pull-out couch and a tv. mia told us how most of the time spent in the house would be down there because it won't bother the neighbors as much. then they left nick and i to get adjusted to the rooms.
i went into mine and within seconds nick was knocking on my door. "yes?" i mumbled not looking away from my closet where i was putting my things away. "do you think they have a relationship or is it just me?" he chuckled sitting down on the corner of my bed.
"i think they're just friends but i see where you come from." i looked back once. "they just better not be really open about it, you know kissing and doing it everywhere. nothing against it, i am just like that with every relationship." he told me shuddering.
"like you've never done that with a significant other." i snickered. he chuckled picking up some of my clothes and helping me. "thanks." i mumbled. he shrugged. "actually, i haven't really done that. i'm not good at relationships so i stay away from them typically." he told me without hesitation.
"makes sense, you sleep around then?" i didn't look up at him partly because i expected the answer to be yes. "used to, trying to get away from that, mainly why i agreed to move here. my roommate constantly is having girls around so by nature i would hook up with them too." he told me.
"don't worry my sexual affairs won't keep you up." he said with a wink. "they better not because i will complain." i told him with a glare. "'i will complain'" he mocked. "shut the hell up." i said leaning down and picking up my pillow.
i hit him straight in the face with it causing me to breakdown laughing in his expense. "fuck you." he told me taking the pillow and hitting me multiple times. "whatever, you're just mad because i am beautiful." i told him flipping my hair over my shoulder.
he took the pillow in his hand and hit me across the face. "so beautiful." he smirked playfully.
