The omega quarters of the White Moon pack were busy to the brim, as it was my packs year to hold the ball. So to say we were all in a panic is an understatement. And my little old self is actually going to attend upstairs this time, last time I had to stay in the kitchen. We're one of the wealthier packs, so instead of mistreating their omegas, they simply use them like maids, I'm not mad though, I just get on with my day and do what the higher ups tell me to.
I'm Aurora, 19, female, no family, Omega to the White Moon Pack...to put it plainly. Because I'm just ordinary. Nothing too special, just sorta there chillin and eating...wow that sounds depressing, I'm not noticed and I don't talk much. So of course I blend in, and the many other omegas treat me kindly, so my life here isn't too bad. Especially when we all live and work in the mansion of the pack house.
I am currently scrubbing the tiled hallway floors with my closest friend Bea, an omega like me; a bucket of water one side and a chatting mass of curls the other, she really needs to stop the bee movie puns.
"-and anyway I am so exited to host this year, maybe I'll find my mate in the crowd, I mean if the packs are coming it will triple my chances of finding him! And of course Alpha Cole will be there! Omg he's so scary!"
I nod my head in agreement "you're right Bea, but we've only heard the rumours, we haven't actually seen him in person, he can't be that scary." I was logical, as if half the rumours were even true...but... there was an undeniable fear that he holds over the packs, and it must be rooted by truth, these rumours about him seem to be all anyone can talk about."Bea, I don't think he's killed over a thousand rogues and I don't think he'll kill anyone tomorrow, just as long as no one over steps their bounds. Everything will go smoothly and without fault. Now stop talking you're distracting me again!" I giggle a little knowing she'll start some shit up in a few minutes.
But we have a whole hallway to finish by tonight and my hands are blistering, Bea is in just as bad shape with an aching back. But what can we do? Were omegas, since we aren't strong enough fighters to guard, nor are we great fighting theorists or whatever, we end up cleaning and cooking and helping about. You know, in the background, the stepping stone to help the real warriors who need armour polished.Bea sighs and sits straight, throwing her cloth to the water "OH why are we even here? We could be running away somewhere or-"
"Bea! And what will we do? Become rogues and get killed? No thanks, and we're lucky to be in one of the wealthy packs, compared to how they treat omegas like us in other packs, I'd say we're very lucky."
And anyway, once we find our mates, nothing else will matter, any life issues would seem to disappear, well according to the women of the pack.Jeez I wish, do I even have a mate?... that thought fills my soul with dread, I've dreamed of having a mate since childhood, my parents died when I was so young and I was just left here to become the help.
But to have someone made for you by the Moon Goddess herself...I smile thinking of what he'd be like.Sweeping my dirty blonde hair out of my face, finishing the last touches to my handy work annnnnndddddddd
"Done!!! Yes we have finished in time!" I couldn't help yelping in joy looking to Bea who's sweating and glaring at my energy. "Oh shut it Rora"
Pft ok grouchy.--------------------------
We've all gathered in the helpers quarters, below ground floor where our rooms our, and the head chief and head maid are telling us what's on schedule for tomorrow in the large kitchen.
Looking over at Bea and mouthing "let's skip" her face stony to others, I can read like a book.We sneak away from the crowd to her room, across from mine to eat some chocolate and watch a movie on her phone, even werewolves need Wifi.
But I can't help but get anxious for the ball, so I get up and lay out my required dress, identical to every other females, black and plain.Making sure no hairs or stains are there, getting nervous never really happens to me though, I know I'll probably be ignored when we omegas line up at the very back wall in the shadows in case some one needs assistance. Someone of higher status.
I slump and sigh, will things change with a mate? is he a guard or a cook or something?
Well let's just get tomorrow over with.
