The Line of omegas at the very end wall forms long before guests appear, it's just at sunset when our Alpha Victor walks in to check our prep work, with his glowing Luna by his side, of course. She had fiery red hair and a tall athletic figure to match, a supermodel almost, jeez it hurt to even look. My short 5"3 frame was dust to her.But we all straightened up anyway out of respect, getting ready for the wave of higher class people to gracefully begin packing in the large dimly lit ballroom. Ignoring us.
And then they did.
Gowns and tuxedos that practically screamed if-you-even-touch-me-you'll-be-in-serious-debt swayed in, well my bank account was basically nonexistent so I'll be extra careful when someone asks me to get them a drink.
Bea is at the double doors of the room, greeting guests, she's too far away to really see clearly, but it's because she in the shadows, like the rest of us.
Admiring the beauty that is dancing to the violins or seated showing off their diamonds at the tables. My eyes are so transfixed to the shiny objects before me, there must be at least four hundred people here already! And they all know they look good, with the many Alphas attached to their Lunas greeting each other, and the many other guests. Keeping the peace.
------- one hour later -------
I can tell that all this standing is getting to the feet of the omegas, when you have to stay still for so long it really gets to the calfs, god I need to exercise more! My heels aren't helping...
I've delivered a few drink orders to tables, and some next to me have taken song requests for the orchestra, which I don't mind at all. The dancing is just magical.
They all gracefully walts and glide to the melody, in a mass sea of glittering diamonds, smirking men, and twirling silk dresses designed for royalty. But people, especially the Alphas, begin to get anxious, the mood shifts as they all nervously fix their bow ties and look to their Luna. Is someone Late? Or is there a pack dispute happening between them? Ohhh who cares. They have all the glamour they could possibly need, why worry?
I longingly look to the swaying couples, I'd love to be them...the way they look at each other and the reflections of the candle light giving everything a golden glow contrasting the dark shadows, the scene becomes almost magical. It begins to hurt my heart to look at, knowing I'll never have this...
But a scent, faint in the wind, hits me. Making me freeze over on spot, my mind becoming hypnotised and clouded, the most basic instinct of my wolf are to simply run to the source of the scent, or to the man...it can't be...it's actually happening! But now!? I can't go to the scent without making a scene and that is sooooooo not an option. But I can't help but whip my head around, searching for my...my mate.
The thought sprouts a seed of hope and I can't help the gleam in my eyes, forcing my lips to remain passive. Do not giggle. Don't giggle don't giggle please calm thyself! I'm need to keep my instinct at bay, do not make a scene! I can-The scent slaps me full force, just as the people around stop dead in their tracks, the music screeches to an ungracefull silence, the heads of all the Alphas and their Betas, personal guards and whatnot snap to the entrance. Becoming stiff and rigged, like preparing to get beaten if they seem impolite.
And there he is. Alpha Cole. The Alpha of all Alphas, a title bestowed by the Moon Goddess herself, giving him utter power.
He's so far away...but I can see him so clearly, as if my eyes existed simply to see only him...I just found my mate.But...did he find me? He's looking to the Alphas...not me.
He walks in. His footsteps fall to the floor like slow thunder knowing they control the very air, and everyone clears his path looking to the floor, as if he were going to rip them apart. However, like tradition follows, the Alphas go to greet him. It's like a sea of hundreds of people all fearful of one tall figure walking towards them.
Has he not noticed my sent? does he not feel me here? because his smell alone is drowning me, i can't breath properly and he's a ballroom away!
The mere presence of him is clouding my mind, like a fog drifting over my thoughts, making me see only him.
He's dressed all in black, sleek and sharp, tall and seeping strength, just one look and you'd just know not to mess with this man. With the darkest hair I've ever seen, midnight black, making those eyes -Oh those eyes shine like a forest of green. Is this the pull the women always gossip and giggle about, because now I know why. This bond is some heavy ass shit.
His jaw is locked tight, his mouth set in a grimace, looking almost angry, glaring a scorching expression to those that greet him, making them wish they hadn't. But this is a 'peaceful' event so he listens to pack issues and whatever the Alphas are telling him, while also staying clear off of his path, and the music resumes with relieved sighs and people begin a far more stiff dance.
My eyes follow him, I can't help myself, this is my fated person, my other half. And he hasn't noticed me? how? my scent should be just as strong as his is to me...why am I invisible again.
But the sharp glance to me says it all, he's known where I was the moment he entered, keeping my gaze prisoner. Then breaking away as if nothing happened, tightly responding to an Alpha nervously discussing pack business. Because all pack business was his business.
My brain couldn't function, my blood boiled away making me dig my nails into my palms, I wanted to run to him, i could feel the pull in my chest, like a stretched elastic band wrapped around him and I, wanting to snap back into place, wanting me to go to my mate.
But then I know I can't move, his eyes are telling me to stay in my place, giving fleeting glances at me, telling me to stay where I was...he ignores those around him and begins false pleasantries with the Alphas continuously greeting him. Never leaving my gaze. Burning me where I stood.
I'm totally fucked.
