I walked slowly to my first lesson of the day, knowing fully well that I was really late. I had spent all my time that morning going through yesterdays events and told myself costless number of times that I wasn't going crazy and it wasn't all in my head. I seem to be controlling things with my mind, which was illogical. Right?
Apologising to the teacher, I quickly dashed to my sit as all eyes were on me and as I got there Josh was on my sit.
"Hmmm Hi that's my sit" I said
'I told him to sit there as I felt you would help him with the Romeo and Juliet we are doing" Ms Williams said before he could reply.
"Miss, I could help him" Tamara said, "in fact t could help him in lots of ways.." She said he what she hoped was a seductive voice but it just came out wrong. Everyone laughed, while I looked at her in disgust; she rose her eyebrows at me and I quickly looked away.
"I think Aaliyah is quite capable. Or aren't you" The teacher said turning her attention back to me.
"Yes, it's fine" I replied, I looked over at Tamara and saw her giving me dirty looks. I smirked at her and quickly sat down on the empty sit next to Josh.
"Hey" Josh said as I looked around and realished we were the only finished with the work.
"Helo" I replied finding my voice.
"Where you alright yesterday? You seemed a bit really nervous and agitated around me, hope I didn't do anything wrong?" His voice smooth and blissful.
"No! Of course not, it's just... I wasn't feeling at my best yesterday" I lied
"Are you alright now?" He seemed really worried.
"Yes, I'm fine" I answered.
Over the next hour we seemed to get to know echother a bit. I now know he was eighteen, he has a cousin who he really cared about and his parents were overprotective over him. I found myself relaxing and feeling free around him. I even made a joke and he laughed out loud, with everyone turning to look at us and me looking down while blushing. Tamara looked really jelous but I couldn't care less because I was here having a meaningful conversation with Josh and all my previous worries of my intended "power", someone almost strangling my to death in my sleep and someone that looked like Josh saving me; was forgotten or it was really hidden at the back of my mind.
Lunch time came and Josh sat with Wendy, Mark and I at the canteen. I could feel Tamara and her minions burning holes at the back of my head because she wanted him to sit with her and the jocks but he refused and sa next to me instead. Inside I was very happy because he rejected Tamara, not a lot of people round here did that. She always used her looks (She is very pretty) and charms to manipulate people to do what she wants them to do. My eyes met hers acroos the canteen and I could feel the hatred radiating from them. The bell rung and snapped her attention away from me, the bell seems to be my saving grace this days.
"I would see you in Economics after, right?" Josh asked me as we cleared away from the canteen.
"Yes you will" I smiled
"Ok, see you" he replied smiling back. his smile lit up his beautiful face. As, he left Mark and Wendy gave me knowing glazes and I just smiled back.
"Stay away from him, you little slut" A harsh voice came from behind me- it was Tamara
"Who?" I asked
"You know who. Just because you managed to get Dean to break up eith me in year eight doesn't mean you can go around stepping on my toes. Josh his mine and you better back off, or else..." She smiled knowing her threats scared me a little. She walked away with her glitz girls walking behind her.
"Don't listen to her, I mean look at her hair" Wend said "Don't listen to anyone with messed up extensions" She comforted me and Mark gave me a reasuring look. I knew not to listen to her but her tone of voice suggested that she wasn't going to give up easily.
