I've been running for several hours, weaving in and out of trees, leaping from boulder peeks and striding through rivers.
The scent, their scent is getting stronger by the second as I near the city.
I'm steadily jogging along a highway, cars swerving to the side as I make my way along the concrete road.
Already I can hear the distant sound of the city, most human conversation merged into one. A small dark grey house dog runs up to greet me just as snow lightly starts to meet the earth.
"Hey, Oh! Yes! it's really you, I-I-I'm Pippy, it's a h-honour to meet you W-Wolviea!" The young dog yips, it's tail swaying like this has been her lifetime wish
I stare at her for a few seconds.
Words don't come easily to someone who hasn't said more than a word or two at a time about twice monthly when I run into an animal that's been roped into the tale of Wolviea.
"Okay" is all I manage to croak out
A young child attempts to sprint to Pippy, only to be held back by what I assumes her father.
"I'm not exactly, w-what you think, Pip" I say softly "Go back to y-your humans" I add
I begin to walk away but the pup weaves through my front legs.
"But you are! You are!" She barks
"Until we meet again, look a-after your little girl. She's scared you might get hurt" I order
"But, Wolv-"
I pick her up gently by the scruff and place her at the feet of the whimpering young girl that is frozen to the spot before continuing my journey to the city.
I can't just say that I'm not their hero, the legend that they've heard of.
I'm no ones hero.
I'm no ones saviour.
But Wolviea is. I've got to remember that. There's one thing that I need to do that towers over all my other priorities. I need to find her, the little girl I can vaguely remember from before I merged with a sprit. Shes my little sister, that and that she had blond hair is all I remember about her. Time has faded the memories of her but one other thing that I remember.
I trusted her.
And that's all I need to know that she's worthy of talking too.

People run at my very present as I stroll down the foot path. Some letting out a piercing shriek, others making sure they aren't noticed.
I'm looking for a place we're humans in blue uniforms stay, from what I've learnt they're the good type. From scent I guide myself to a 'police station'.
I'm about two stores away when three come out, I lock eyes with the first male that notices me. Frantically he taps the shoulders of the two unaware humans behind him, not breaking eye contact. I take a step forward, his hand practically teleports to an item I know all too well.
A gun.
I retreat my step. The female steps in front of him and leans down slightly so we're eye level.
"Sit!" She commands
I hesitate before realising her command. Without a second thought I sit, I will earn their trust. They laugh among themselves before the man with the shinny pistol starts talking into a small black object.
"Sir, the wolf is tame" He reports into the tiny communication device
The brunette woman steps forward, with caution, and holds her hand out in front of me like I'm some dog. I simply nudge her hand with my nose before bowing my head slightly for her to rub. Another female walks out of the station with a pole with a circle at the tip.
They're going to attempt to restraint me.
With a sudden burst of energy I back up only to have a circle heading for my head from behind, the soft swish of the rope heading for my head is enough for me to get out of the way. I'm in the middle of the road, facing them in shock.
I thought they were good.
I lay down, roll over then get straight back to my feet, that's what dogs do to show trust right!? I look at them desperately, searching their eyes for a sign that they won't attempt again.
Time slows down.
Three darts are flying my way heading for my shoulder blade, flank and neck.
How dare they.
I slide to the side as time speeds up.
Am I already getting chased out of the city!? Whining I claw the road in frustration before turning to leave, I'll just come back in human form and ask them. What was I thinking! Causally strolling up to them as a wolf nearly the same hight as them, it's not like they're gunna be like
'Well, I'm convinced the abnormally large wild wolf is friendly and understands me! Let's not restrain it before it attacks everyone!'
I mentally laugh for even thinking city humans were that gullible. They were probably more like.
'Holy sh#t it's the big bad wolf, searching for food! Shoot it!'
And that's only putting it in mild words. I bolt at full speed behind a tall brick building and shift in mid sprint. Before running back out, over a metal fence and walking towards the station. Numerous humans dressed in the blue suit pile into a large truck and speed of in the direction I was once running. I stroll past two men.
"Ha, they're after that wolf, in my day we would just put a price on it's head and leave the people to it" A older looking gentleman laughs
The younger bloke chuckles along with him.
"Earth really has changed hasn't it Dad" he sighs "It's a shame we weren't in it for as long as we could be" he adds, staring down at his transparent hands
Another part of being part sprit, you can see and interact with other ghosts. I grab a note book out from my pocket along with a pen.
"What's this girl doing" the older man mumbles before attempting to float straight through my body to see the note
His horrified face when he ends up knocking into me stays it all.
I give a small wave before finishing my small note and sticking it to the brick wall.
'Just be glad you're not stuck in darknes' is all that's scribbled with horrible hand writing.
I sprint into the police station with pen and sticky note in hand. The man with messy ginger hair sitting at the front desk simply stares at me as I scribble down my words, because I'm writing instead of talking or because of my sketchy outfit covering my identity I will never know.
'I wantd to know we're a girl namd Kayla is.' I write, struggling with the spelling before passing the note to him
"You do realise there probably hundreds of girls named Kayla in this city" he chuckles
I pull out another piece of paper.
'She had a big sister that disaperd, Mom and dad kiled. Blond hair' I write
"Ahh yes, the twin of the girl that disappeared May the ninth. Kayla's still looking for her but the case closed ten years ago" he sighs
..Twin? I had a twin? She's looking for me. And I'm looking for her.
"I cant just give out her information to a teenager in a mask. I'll have to get you to take of the bandana or a darn good explanation to why your looking for her"
By now two other uniformed humans are listening in on our conversation.
Should I say that I'm that girl?. No, they'll be able to figure out my identity. I hold on to the tip of the mask for a few seconds, debating lies to tell him so I can get to her.
'Im sick, thats why I have it, Kayla is a friend of my sister, I need to return somthing to her' I scribble before handing it to him
I feel a tap on my shoulder, without looking I can smell no ones behind me meaning that it's the spirts. I ignore them.
"What is this 'something'" He questions
Umm. I fiddle around in my pockets then pull out a golden locket, once my mothers.
He seems convinced, stupid mortal.
"I'll give you a ride"He volunteers
As soon as it escapes his lips I shake my head. The shoulder tapping continues, I kick back my foot striking the shin of the younger male poking me. I hear him fall back, his body hopping back as he grasps his calf muscle.
To me it was only a light kick but having the strength of Wolviea in wolf as well as human form it must've been painful for him.
Wolviea gave me her abilities. Powerful strength, Excellent hearing, Abnormal scene of smell, Animal communication and the ability to interact with the undead.
I gave her common sense.
Win win.
The man hands me a piece of paper. Not only do I have terrible spelling and a five year olds hand writing. I can't read for sh#t.
'Thirty one Hatty Drive'. Without a thank you note I quickly dash out of the police station and make a run for the nearest place to shift.
I'm coming Kayla.
