I didn't think he would do it, but he did. The very next day he called a meeting of every single guard at the place. It didn't matter if they were on duty or supposed to be resting, Jonah was pissed.

"Yesterday I was informed of a vampire scaling the wall to remove rogues that have been descending upon us."

Jonah's fingers thump at the lectern as he tries to control his temper.

"First of all I am beyond annoyed that I was not informed that rogues have been hanging around at the entrance. I am also annoyed that they have actually made it to the wall, that none of you have bothered to try and remove them before they got too close. It is imperative that they are not allowed to reach the wall. Do you know why?"

There wasn't a sound from the people around me.

"They had bombs people. Bombs. The wall would have been down and we would be dead. Do you want that?"

Reign in the temper Jonah. He looks at me and calms slightly.

"Night after night they have descended on us and there has been only one that has even bothered to deal with them. Why is that? Can any of you tell me why I bother to pay you if you can't even do your job?"

Again there isn't a sound from any of the vampires around me.

"One vampire has taken on dozens and dozens of rogues, night after night. I have watched hours of security footage; I have seen many of you watching as the vampire goes about doing your jobs for you. Why people? Why is it that Ivy has to risk her life to do your job?"

Everyone turns and looks at me. Thanks Jonah.

"So we are going to have a change of attitude around here, either do your job properly or leave the compound. Is there anyone that would like a change of job?"

He waits patiently as no one speaks. It's almost like Jonah and I are in here by ourselves.

"Right then, I can safely assume that you all like your jobs and would like to keep them. Just so that all of you are aware of it, I will have the security tapes independently reviewed every day, if anything is out of line, consider yourselves in trouble."

He takes my hand and pulls me out of the auditorium, leaving the shell shocked guards to talk among themselves.

"Thanks for dumping me in it."

He looks at me, raising an eyebrow at me.

"You didn't have to name me, jeez."

"I wanted them to understand the graveness of the situation. You've been risking your life to keep everyone safe, you've been doing their job. Like you said last night, you wouldn't go out there if you didn't need to."

We walked along the breeze way, headed toward the administration building. Jonah stopped and frowned as he looked to the segregated accommodation building, odd sounds coming from it. A chair smashed through a third floor window, the odd sounds were chanting and yelling. The humans were protesting. Jonah hit the security alarm and ran back into the building. I could hear him barking orders at the security staff that had been lingering in there. The humans must have figured that they weren't being watched and decided it was the best time to complain about something. They were supposed to be in lock down for the duration of the meeting. Jonah stalks back up the breeze way, determination showing on his face.

"Back to the house, now."

"Really? You are ordering me back to the house. You do remember that we fought alongside each other in the war right? You do remember where you discovered my nocturnal activities by taking on dangerous rogues by myself right?"

"Ivy please, just do as I ask."

"Fine."

He continued his stalking up the path, the guards following him. Once they all had their backs to me, I disappeared and took a leisurely stroll to the segregated accommodation building. It was the single men that were protesting, the security staff were evacuating the other humans into the farming area. There were several ways into the different sections, for the humans of course there was one main entrance and one fire exit which was alarmed. They had barricaded the main entrance and the fire exit.

They thought there was no other way in. I could see the guards moving to the secret entrance, to access the area they entered via a coded door near the administration building, took the underground tunnel to the building. In the centre of the building was a cavity, almost like a spine that ran up the centre of the floors. There were doors to each floor and each section, each door only having one handle, on the inside. The humans couldn't open the heavy steel door even if they tried. Only problem was, they figured it was an access door and barricaded it too. The cavity and the secret tunnels were a good idea, except that humans were pretty intelligent. I knew Jonah and I would have to sit down and find a new way for the guards to access the building if this happened again. All of the guards were talking in their minds, maintaining total silence. I could hear that they couldn't get through the door, this was total nonsense.

Standing a short distance from the building, still invisible, I looked upon it. Three stories up, one broken window. Occasionally one of them would yell something out the window, but they were obviously keeping their distance in fear of bullets being fired at them. As I quietly slipped to the building I closed my mind, knowing that I could be heard if I thought too loudly. Scaling the drain pipe, I made it to the third floor in a few minutes, it wasn't easy being quiet and trying to maintain a grip on the slippery metal. I looked over at the brick window sill, thinking I was crazy. Don't look down. Taking one very deep breath, I pushed my feet off the wall and jumped to the bricks. I grabbed hold, feeling my skin break from the roughness. Sweat was making me lose grip, I was about to plummet to the ground.

I was about to reach for the metal frame of the window, knowing that the broken glass would rip my hand to shreds when one of the men leaned out the window to yell something at the guards. Perfect. With one big swing of my arm I reached up to the edge of his shirt and gave him a gentle yank. He gasped and pulled backwards, taking me with him. As he stepped back, he fell to the floor. I rolled off him and quickly scrabbled away, thinking he would start questioning what happened and people would flock to him.
