Markus's POV
I held eye contact with Quentin, whose mouth opened and closed as he struggled to say something. I kept my determination up. I want him. I want him to be my Luna, my mate. I want to claim him as my own and show him off to the entire world. I don't want anyone else to have him. Quentin's face had gone a hundred shades of red. I wrapped an arm around him, kissing the top of his bright red hair. "We don't have to do anything," I murmured, "I'm fine with that too. I want to know what you think."
Quentin remained silent for the longest time before he leaned against me. I froze, my heart rate increasing. "Will you mate with someone else if I say no?"
I frowned, growling. "Never! I am yours, mate."
Instead of speaking, I felt Quentin nod against my shoulder and lean closer. I smiled, leaning my head atop his. Still, I was saddened by the thought that my mate didn't want my mark. Shaking the thought away, I stood up. Quentin sat back, tilting his head. "Something wrong?"
"No, but... I need to find you a place to stay for tomorrow."
He furrowed his brows before realization brightened his face and he blushed. "Okay."
Standing, I held out my hand to him. "Come on, I'll have Sean set up a room for you."
His deep red eyes glanced at my hand, before his own stretched out, pressing itself into mine. I pulled him up off the bed and led him back downstairs in search of Sean. Sean was in the living room being trampled by a group of pups, struggling to get away from them. I stood over him once they scattered, watching him scowl. "Brats." He looked up at me and blinked. "Alpha... How long have you been there?"
"Long enough to know never to put you on babysitting duty ever again."
He blushed, coughing awkwardly. "Right. Um... What's wrong?"
I nodded my head towards Quentin. "He needs a place to stay tomorrow."
"You mean you aren't going to-"
I gave him a sharp glare and Sean went silent. "Yes, Alpha. Come with me, Lu- Quentin."
Sighing, I watched them walk off, slightly jealous when Sean reached over and took Quentin's arm, guiding him away. I sat down on the nearby couch, waiting patiently. I understood Quentin's apprehension, truly, but it was hard to accept. Most Werewolves were usually mated to other Werewolves, so there wasn't much hesitation before mating. But Vampires are prideful creatures. It's not often that they submit to others or relinquish their control. Besides, Quentin is a very careful person, I've noticed. He seldom trusts people, and it took me a while to get close to him. I didn't want to screw that up.
"Alpha?"
I jumped, looking up at Sean. "Where's Quentin?"
He nodded his head back the way he came. "I set him up in a guest bedroom, and he decided to take a nap. Kyran and Felan are in the dining room playing chess if you want to join them," he added.
"Isn't chess a two player game?"
Sean shrugged. "Yes, but-"
"I don't get this game!!" Sean was cut off by a loud yell, followed by Felan running past us and towards the guest rooms. We were both silent as Kyran came into the room, sitting down next me.
I looked over at him. "What were you doing?"
"Winning at chess."
"What was Felan doing?" Sean asked, hiding a smile.
Kyran raised a brow. "Losing at chess." He looked at me. "You go into heat tomorrow, yes?"
I was about to ask him how he knew that, but then I remembered Felan is his mate. "Yeah..."
"Will you be marking Quentin?"
I swallowed. "N-no..."
He nodded. "I see." I frowned. Was there something I didn't know? I probably could've asked him, but I knew he wouldn't give me a definitive answer, so I didn't bother. Finally, Kyran stood up, giving us a wicked grin that made his blood red eyes glow. "If you'll excuse me, I have to go console my mate."
A/N: Hey guys! I know it's been a while, but if anyone remembers, a while back I supposedly updated chapter 11 of Thrown to the Wolves, but none of you could access it. Since I still get questions about it, I'm going to answer them right now; it was an accidental update. I accidentally hit the 'publish' button while I was working on it (sorry). I hope this clears that up, and thanks for reading!
