Quentin's POV

I lost my nerve. I couldn't do it. Sitting at the kitchen table, I was silently hating myself for chickening out. I couldn't talk to Markus. I was going to, but some part of my brain was still afraid of what might happen if I went and told that I suddenly changed my mind and wanted to be his mate. Would it hurt? Probably not. Markus would never hurt me. But, he's still a Werewolf, who gets controlled by his lust all the time. There's no way to know for sure that he wouldn't go full beast on me during the full moon. And yet, the rest of me... doesn't seem to mind.

The sound of hurried footsteps alerted me to someone behind me, and I turned to see a very annoyed looking Sean walking towards me. Standing, I rushed into the hallway in an attempt to escape. Sean caught up to me, though, and grabbed my arm. "Why didn't you tell him? I thought you were going finally become his mate! I thought you wanted to!" he kept his voice at a whisper to keep from waking the other members of the pack. It was close to midnight.

"I... I was going to! I was, but... I just... Lost my nerve?" I looked down, pulling my arm away. "I didn't think it would be this hard, okay? I'll... tell him tomorrow."

Sean crossed his arms, sighing heavily. I knew he was mad. He was expecting me to run to Markus and be his mate. He was mad because he wanted his friend and Alpha to be happy, and I was making this as hard as it could be. "Fine. you'll tell him tomorrow. But you will tell him before the full moon rises. Got it?"

Nodding, we came to a mutual agreement, and he pat my shoulder before walking off. I turned and walked off towards the living room to sit down. I pulled my legs to my chest, my heart thumping nervously. I'll tell Markus tomorrow. I'll tell him I want to be his mate.

---

After my talk with Sean, I had a new sense of determination. I can't lose my nerve anymore, or the opportunities will pass me by. With this decision, I woke up the next morning with my heart in my throat. Sean was in the kitchen with his usual cup of coffee, his eyebrow raising when I walked in. I gave him a small nod in response to his silent question and he smiled in return. The deal was done.

"Morning, Luna. Sleep well?"

"It's-"

"Look, after tonight it will be Luna for real. You might as well get over it. No one is going to listen to you when the Alpha is standing beside you with his glare fixed on them, daring them to say your name in his presence."

Looking down, I blushed. "He probably would do that, huh?"

"Do what?" Markus appeared in the doorway, smiling.

"We were talking about how Kyran will likely be spending the rest of the day in his room with Felan, and won't be joining us for dinner." Sean sipped his coffee, not missing a beat with his reply. Was he just ready with excuses on the fly?

Markus chuckled. "Yeah, many people are getting an early start on the full moon celebration." His eyes wandered to me as he said this, but he redirected his attention Sean almost as fast as he'd looked away.

Swallowing, I twirled my hands together nervously. "Umm... What time does the moon rise tonight?"

Markus thought about it for a moment. "About eight, I think. Why?"

"Can I... Talk to you around then?"

Markus gave me a questioning look, but nodded. "Yeah.... Sure."

Sean grinned, raising his coffee to me.

---

"But... What do I wear?" I sat on the bed in the guest room where I've been staying, looking over at Sean and Felan, who'd finally come out of his room with Kyran sometime around lunch. It was almost dinnertime now, and I only had a few hours before I went to go and talk to Markus, who was currently holed up in his office trying to finish up his work before his heat.

Felan and Sean glanced at each other. "Something he'd like to see you in," Felan offered. "Maybe a shirt he likes you in? One of his shirts?" He blushed at that, and I suspected this was a ploy he's used more than once on Kyran.

Sean shrugged. "Something easy to remove." Felan and I blushed and he smiled. "Okay, okay. I'm sorry, that was the wrong thing to say. It doesn't matter what you wear, because he'll rip it off easily. So, go with the thing Felan was talking about. Put his scent all over you. I can grab one of his shirts for you."

I nodded but frowned. "Okay... But what else do I wear?

Sean tilted his head. "Nothing."

I gaped and Felan quickly added in, "You can wear underwear!" As if it would make any difference.

The two seemed pretty confident with their plan, and I didn't doubt their abilities of seduction. It was clear Felan had Kyran by the nose, and I knew that he and Markus have similar tastes. I didn't know about Sean, though. He doesn't have a mate and he doesn't seem like the type to sleep around. Sean seemed to notice my shrugging and smiled. "I'm just suggesting things I hear the mated men of the pack say makes them excited. I'd probably just grab him by the neck and say outright that I want to mate with him. If he loves you there's really no need for seduction. Besides, he will be in heat, you know."

Felan pushed Sean's arm, a deep blush across his face. "Don't be rude. It's their first time. It's supposed to be special."

I talked with the pair for a while longer before Sean stood up and announced it was time to put the plan into action. He disappeared upstairs while Felan helped to prepare my determination. "You'll do fine. He loves you, after all."

"But-" I'd already shared my worries with Felan, and he chuckled at all of them.

"He would never hurt you. We are beasts only in name. Werewolves are fiercely protective of their mates. They would never hurt them, even in a daze."

I opened my mouth to speak, but Sean had come back with the shirt, and I knew it was time to get ready.

I made them turn as I tripped down and pulled the large shirt over my head, watching it fall all the way to my knees. The collar wanted to slip down off my shoulder and after a few minutes of trying to fight with it I finally just allowed it to stay like that. Felan and Sean turned back around and smiled. "Yep. That's perfect."

I blushed, but the two pushed me into the hallway. I looked around at the empty house. Everyone had already gone away, either hiding in their room alone or with their mate. Outside I could see it was dark, but the moon hadn't yet come up. It was only around seven thirty, but I knew that Sean and Felan weren't going to let me back into the room, so my only choice was to go and see Markus.
