"They followed us here?" Tori shrieked. She was pacing the floor as I closed all the blinds in the house, and locked all the doors.
"I guess they did. Honey, you need to get to the police. Now." Mom was infuriated. She was okay with some of the evidence, but this has been going on for quite a long time now and she no longer wanted us to wait.
"But we don't have enough evidence, we don't even know what they look like!" I yelled, coming in from the kitchen, after closing the last window.
"Guys, lets go in the basement. There is no window other than the fire escape down there, and the laundry is down there. We'll stay down there for a while," Mom whispered. It was smart that she was talking very softly, because you could never know if they could hear us or not.
We grabbed out suitcases and took them downstairs. It felt like there was a nuclear war, and we had to hide in a bunker. But there is no war, just stalkers that would not leave us alone.
I turned on the TV as mom reached for the phone. She began to dial 911 into her phone, until I stopped her.
"Mom, stop." I demanded. She slowly put her phone on the coffee table as I turned up the volume on the news.
"Two women in their early twenties, Ann Malone, and Tori Carter, have gone missing in the state of New York. The last place they've been seen, is by their mother, in their apartment in downtown Manhattan."
I stood their in disbelief. I peeked through the curtains, but the credit card people were gone.
"They did this!" Tori said, infuriated. I wonder what they did to file that sort of report to the police.
"How could they even do that? Wouldn't the police know if they weren't family or not?" Mom asked me.
"Don't look at me,"
The whole situation was confusing us. I thought leaving town for a few weeks would help the situation, but no matter what, they will always be there.
It felt like my situation with my dad. He left us when I was nine, but I could still feel his presence for the next few months, especially since I was in major denial.
"Hey mom, the thought of dad just popped into my head... did you ever talk to him after he left?" I asked.
"No, he blocked me on all social medias and he removed himself from the family plan, so I couldn't track him."
Then I thought...
What if my dad is a part of the credit card people?
