The week started to go by slowly. It was probably my lethargy from Ayden’s feeding. On Wednesday he didn’t take as much. He was concerned this Thursday morning because I looked very pale and very tired. I swallowed the vitamins he gave me three times a day of course it had only been two though. While Ayden was looking stronger I was looking weaker. I guess I knew how Beth was feeling when Darius was feeding on her, she just didn’t know it.

As I got to my locker this morning, I saw Beth at hers talking with Josh. He seemed to be smiling and they were deep into their conversation.

“They are making it official,” Ayden quietly said to me. I couldn’t hear them but he could.

“Ohh really yay,” I said softly. Ayden smiled at me and I tried to not interrupt Beth and Josh. But I had a smile on my face. She noticed I was there once I got my locker opened.

“I’ll see you later Beth, “I heard Josh say with affection.

“Ok,” she spoke softly with her eyes glowing smiling at him. She watched him walk away then turned to me grinning stupidly.

“So you guys are official now?” I asked smiling at her.

“How did you know?” she pretended to be surprised but I gave a knowing look. She nodded and beamed happily at me.

“Yes, he really likes me too,” I gave her a hug. So relieved she was going to be with someone good for her.

We went through the school day as two couples. It was nice not having all the stares on Ayden and me for once. At lunch we noticed Jen looking at us. She didn’t seem to be happy or angry in her expression. She just looked a little lonely.

“She misses you and Beth,” Ayden whispered in my ear.

“Well she was the one who left so she has to come to me, “I said sincerely, but I missed her friendship as well. Maybe we would reconcile one day.

“Has Darius come back yet?” I asked quietly while Josh and Beth made goo-goo eyes at each other.

“No, not yet he is starting to worry me though to,” Ayden was serious it did seem like Darius was talking awhile to go get a stake.

“I hope he makes it back in time and safely,” I was concerned. Ayden gave me a soft look.

“You care about him,” he stated rather than asked quietly.

“Well ya he is not all that bad but he is still a jerk,” I smiled at Ayden. He had an odd look on his face.

“What,” I was getting annoyed and his expression was frightening me.

“Do you have feelings for him?” he said sadly with a hint of bitterness to his tone.

“Ayden no what would you think that for?” I was surprised by his jealousy.

“We are blood linked now I can feel your reactions when you’re thinking about him,” he murmured firmly. I was shocked about what he was saying to me.

“How could you even think that about me,” I was getting angry and hurt now. It felt like a violation of my privacy. Of course I understood what he meant it was much more powerful now. I liked Darius he was gorgeous, what girl wouldn’t be attracted to him. How could he with everything else that was going on accuse me or get jealous now.

“With everything going on right now how could you do that to me,” I hissed quietly and looked him dead in the eye with anger. I got up and left. Tears were welling up in my eyes. It really hurt that he would think that and get jealous now.

I ignored him the rest of the day in classes. He tried to get my attention and apologize during P.E. and being playful. I was not having it. With me being weak from his bloodletting, so he could be strong to help protect me from this ancient vampire, and still I’ll be the one bleeding. The nerve of accusing me of having feelings for someone else under these circumstances, using my emotions simply because we were blood linked. Yes ok that is not normally the case for most relationships but it was for mine.
