        “Rise and shine, sleepy head.”

I groaned, grabbed my pillow, and pressed it over my head, efficiently blocking the presence of whoever was in my room out. Or so I thought.

Seconds later, I fell off my bed. Fell, meaning pushed off while someone stood over you trying hard not to burst into laughter. Key word: trying.

        “Aiden!”

I winced in pain and scowled at the blond in front of me who was too busy laughing to acknowledge my existence. Ladies and gentleman, meet Aiden Carter, my best friend since second grade. “You jerk, how did you even get in?”

His laughter slowly faded into a big grin. And when I say slowly, I mean, slowly. “Your mom let me in. You should’ve seen your face just now, it was hilarious,” he answered, before breaking down into laughter again.

Yes, this is the guy I call my best friend. Gosh, my life was sad.

Still scowling, I stood up and placed my fallen pillow back onto my bed before glancing at my clock. 6:20. Nodding in satisfaction, I grabbed some random clothes out from my closet then went into my bathroom, slamming the door behind me.

        “Aiden.”

        “Evie.”

        “Aiden!”

“Evie!” He mimicked in a high pitched voice which didn’t sound like mine at all. I glared at him and crossed my arms over my chest, showing him that I was not going to back down.

“Aiden, I am not going to let you copy my homework,” I stated, then anxiously glanced at my watch. 7:03, which meant that the first period is going to begin in another seven minutes.

“But Evie,” he pouted, making the puppy face at me.

I am not going to fall for it. I am not going to fall for it. I am not going to fall for it. “No. Besides, the teacher’s going to know that it’s mine, since I wrote this paragraph alone, without having to copy someone, and at home. You know, like you’re supposed to.” 7:05. Damn it, I was going to be late.

Frowning, I stepped to the right and tried to maneuver around him, only to have him copy my movement so that he still stood in my way.

“Aiden. We’re going to be late!”

He smirked. “You know I don’t care about being late. But I need to hand in this homework. If I don’t, I’ll have three weeks detention since we had almost a month to complete this, which results to me missing practice, and that results to Coach being pissed off and not letting me be captain!”

7:06. “Then maybe you should’ve actually taken some time to complete the damn thing!” He smiled sheepishly, but still didn’t budge. “Fine. But you owe me one.” His smile became a full blown grin, and I quickly took out my English notebook and handed it over to him.

“        See you later!”

He grinned and blew me a kiss, making my lips curve upwards just a little. “Bye Evie-boo!” I rolled my eyes then took off as fast as I can. 7:07. Maybe I can make it in time after all.
