Erin grabbed her keys and bolted out the door. She didn't bother to lock it, she just ran. Jay was out with a few buddies and the kids were at daycare or school so she didn't have much to worry about. Except Shay. She had to worry about him. Even though she wasn't a cop anymore, she still drove like she was one. She pressed the pedal to the metal and got there as fast as she could.

When she arrived, she saw many firemen loading back up into their firetrucks and no paramedics in sight. She stopped her car and go out. "Casey! What happened?" She shouted. She ran up to him.

"I thought I told you to go to the hospital!" He argued. "Shay's okay. He was stable when they took him, I don't know what was going on with him, but he was unconscious. Someone ran a red light and T-boned him."

"Someone?"

"Yeah, it was a hit-and-run," Casey explained.

"I've gotta go, thank you, Casey. Thank you," she said as she ran back to her car.

As she drove to the hospital, she gave Jay a call. "Hey, babe, what's up," he said.

"Jay, you need to get to Med as soon as possible."

"What? Babe, what's wrong?" Jay questioned.

"It's Shay. He was in a car accident, you need to hurry," Erin explained.

"Is he okay? Is he gonna be okay?" Jay asked.

"I don't know, Jay. I'm scared."

"I'll be there as soon as possible, I promise."

When Jay arrived at the hospital, Erin ran into his arms.

They hugged for a while as Erin cried into his shoulder, "he's gonna be okay," she whispered. "He's gotta be."

Hours later, the doctor explained that he just had a concussion and a fractured arm, but beside that, he's perfectly healthy and he can go home as soon as he wakes up.
