Mina Spring's POV
The sun blared into my eyes as I woke from my slumber. I had a great nap, and everything was literally perfect. I loved how the void full of flowers outside my window— "HOLY FETUS BALLS." Cruz happily exclaims into his phone. What was the deal with technology and iPhones these days? Tsk, should I be worried? "Cruz? Why are you here in my room so early in the morning?" I frown in concern. I pull myself up from my bed and dangle my petite tail at the edge.
Cruz jumps in surprise as he realizes that I have woken up from my slumber. "Well good morning Princess Mina! Breakfast is being served down at the dining hall in 20 minutes, you should be getting ready for that now." He chirps excitedly and smiles. I give him a questioning look before jumping off my bed and into the void of wood below me. Cruz pats me on the head before I enter the cold halls of the castle grounds.
The smell of sizzling omelettes and grounded up coffee pierces into my nose. I grin sheepishly and head straight down to the dining room. Today was going to be a good day, I just know it. Cruz trails behind me, giving everyone we pass a small nod. As we enter the dining room, I push the locket on my necklace to the front. Cruz happily takes his seat besides me and scrolls on his phone as we wait for the others. Medley and Cove were the only two missing.
"Mother, where is Medley? Cove?" I point out and give her a small smile. Mother glances at me. "I'm not sure, my dear. They'll be down here in a few minutes." She gives me a reassuring grin and continues her conversation with my father. After I trust her word and wait for a long 10 minutes, they ended up not coming still. I decided to take matters into my own hands. "Mother, father, excuse me. I'm going to look for them." I frown and stand up. My parents dismiss me as they both wait to dig into their meals.
My first guess was Medley's room. I mean, where else would she be? Once I arrive at her room, I creaked open the door and peered inside. Her room was completely deserted. My second guess was the library. Medley enjoyed reading, so she must be in there if she wasn't in the dining hall or her room. I entered the rusty entrance of the library and the smell of old books and ink pens punctured my nose. "Medley? Are you here?" I call out, which only received me a disapproving look from the librarian.
My guesses ran out after I checked her room once again, the garden, and the kitchen. I decided to stop looking for her, and wait for her to show up fashionably late for breakfast. Maybe then I can yell at her for wasting my valuable time. As I headed down the hall, I saw a figure peer over the edge of the balcony calmly. Who was that? I walked into the balcony and leaned against the doorway with my tail swaying back and forth.
"What are you doing?" I ask in a quiet voice. The figure silently watched the castle and the workers roam free below. They turn around and surprisingly looks at me. "Mina? Shouldn't you be at the dining room?" Medley suddenly frowns. I knew it. "I don't know, I was spending my last 20 minutes going around the castle looking for you?" I scoff and acknowledge the fact that I passed the balcony about 3 times without seeing her.
"Oh- uh, sorry. I just needed some fresh air this morning." She sighs and pulls me into the castle. We slowly make our way down to our family, while we have a nice chat. "Fresh air? We live in the ocean. The only thing you're going to get here is bubbles full of water. Plus, all the windows are technically open. The whole castle is filled with carbon dioxide." I snort and walk forwards into the dining room. As soon as my foot enters the room, everyone's heads turn to my attention.
Cove a seat away from Cruz, and smiled at Medley. There were 2 personal seats left for Medley and I. I took mine, and she takes hers. But before we part ways, she slips an eye roll to me. "Now my children, we should start our dinner with a prayer." Father announces. We all say our prayers and as soon as father takes his first bite into his meal, all forks and spoons were raised. The meal was a success, because the cook never failed to disappoint my taste buds.

"Excuse me, I'm going for a small swim around the garden now." I grin sheepishly and pull myself up from the board game I was playing with my family. Cruz and Medley snorts and shake their head frantically. "You're not going for another swim without us." Medley dusts herself and heads to my side. Cruz nods and swims to my side as well. "What? Seriously?" I mutter in annoyance and swim back so that they're not by me anymore.
"What happened last time? Oh, right. Medley sent a whole search party for you. You're not going anywhere alone anymore." Cruz laughs sadly and crosses his arms. I sigh. I'm not going to get anywhere without them, am I? How am I going to visit Leo today then? He was going to show me his favorite meeting spot.
"No need for that, I changed my mind. I'm actually going to my room now." I frown and head towards the hall full of bedrooms. "Sure, I'll come too." Cruz agrees and we both head back to the room. My brain filled with thoughts as I fell asleep into another nap. How will I get to Leo?
