E'mani POV

I was on my way home, finally being able to make love to my bed and kick back and relax. Today has been a perfect day for me, which I definitely could not complain. I was feeling great, looking better and I could not wait to get home to my husband to be. Nothing could be a better feeling. While I was into my thoughts, the vibrating of my phone bought me back to reality. I pressed the green button on my phone, causing it to answer on my car Bluetooth.

"Hello?", I answered.

"Hey baby girl. What you doin?"

I smiled at the raspy voice that came through my car speakers. "Hey daddy. Nothing driving home. What's up?"

"Nothing. Just calling to check on ya making sure everything was okay ya know?"

"Well, yeah I'm fine dad...is everything okay?"

The brief silence caused me to slow down on the interstate. My dad silence was a sign that he was about to question me or break news to me about something I probably don't want to hear.

"Umm.... dad you there?"

"Yeah, I'm here. What's new with you? I feel like we so out of touch these days..." he asked with a tone of voice that made me a little uncomfortable.

"Nothing really. Chanel called me to model for her ad for Coco mademoiselle."

"That's coo, coo... so uh, how's O'shea?"

I Raised my eyebrow, frowning and causing a wrinkle to form on my forehead. I don't know who my father thinks he is calling and asking about O'shea. He doesn't do it any other time.

"You know I know right...?", my dad challenged as if he peeped game. "I KNOW. I KNOW I KNOW...-

"You know what dad?!" I raised my voice, interrupting his trance sentence.

"That you got a 50Karat ring on ya fucking engagement ring finger. You better start the talking E'mani Lynnea."

I felt like my mouth was suddenly filled with cotton as my heart skipped a beat as I heard my father say, "He knows." About an engagement that I didn't even tell him about. This shit got my palms sweating already and that aint good. I can see my father's expression now; eyebrows crumpled with his nostrils flared as weed smoke flowed through em wearing his infamous Raiders hat, black ray bans and wearing all black.

The devil himself.

"Daddy...I don't know what you are talking about."

"Keep on lyin Lynnea."

Yeah, he's pissed. He NEVER calls me by my middle name. I pulled over into the parking lot of a nearby shopping center, so my dad can have my full attention. I parked my car next to an all-white Hyundai Sonata as I took a deep breath.

"Alright." I sighed. "Wait a minute. If I was engaged, how you know?"

"Don't worry about how the hell I know. I'm the damn parent. I'm asking the goddamn questions so start talking."
