That was weird. I sit down on my bed and think about my day. I hear my stepmom yelling. I walk out of my room into the kitchen.
"Why didn't you do your chores?" The step monster yells at my little brother.
"I...I..." He starts.
"Do you have a reason?" She hisses.
"Stop," I quietly say.
"What was that?" She growls, turning on me.
"I said stop," I say a little louder.
"This is not your problem Aspen. Please leave."
"No."
"Excuse me? Do I have to talk to your father?"
"Go ahead. It's not like he listens," I spit back.
"Go away!" She all but screams.
I look at my little brother who is now cringing. "I said no. Ethan, go on."
"Ethan! Stay!"
"Go!"
"What's going on?" My older brother Jacob asks.
"Nothing," step monster and I say at the same time.
"I doubt that," he says walking over to stand beside Ethan and I.
We all hear the door open. "I'm home!" Our dad calls.
"I was just breaking up a fight between Ethan and Aspen about their chores," Suzan tells Dad. She always twists everything around to make it our fault.
I roll my eyes and walk out of the room. I go to my bed room and email Olivia. I explain everything. When she didn't respond for a while, I gave up.
She replied an hour later with: you can always run away to my house!
I respond with a simple: lol.
O: Are you okay?
M: yeah
O: I don't believe you.
M: well, I'm never okay...
O: I know. I'm really sorry love.
M: I know... I'm gonna sleep now.
O: okay babe. I love you! Sweet dreams sis!
M: love you too
I close my email and open Wattpad. I randomly search through comments and stories. Nothing really catches my interest, so I close out of that and start writing poems. After I'm done with a poem, I go to sleep.
When I wake up, I look at my floor. I see the poem that I wrote the night before and read it. I through it away. It wasn't one of my best. I pick some sweats off of the the floor and smell them. They don't smell bad. I put them on and change my shirt. I grab my back pack and start to walk to school. I get there right as Olivia does. She runs up to me and gives me a hug.
"Morning sis!" She chirps.
"Morning!" I say, somewhat happier.
"I'm tired."
"Me too."
The bell rinds and we go to our seminar class. That's when the rest of my day began... Duh...
*********
I sit down by Livy and Chloe at lunch.
"You gonna eat?" Chloe asks.
"Nah. Not hungry."
"Okay," Chloe and Liv say as they stare at their plates.
I pick food off of their plates and make a big deal of eating it.
After lunch, we go to band. Livy grabs her flute out of her cubby and sits down with it. I get my trumpet and go to sit down. On my way someone almost backs into me. I put on finger in between their shoulder blades to stop them. The person turns around.
"Sorry Aspen," he says.
"It's okay Aidan."
"Are you okay?" He asks.
"Yeah," I lie.
"Okaaay...." He replies, clearly not convinced.
We sit down and play our music.
