Kate entered Kyle's luxurious bedroom with him following close behind.

His room was clean and as spacious as she remembered. Every visible flat surface gleamed in the light casted by the shiny, modern chandelier hanging in the middle of the ceiling. The room was huge, but they were alone. Her heart thumped at that thought. She didn't forget what happened the last time they were alone in a confined space together. The image of Kyle pressing her up against her kitchen counter flashed before her mind's eyes and she felt her face heat up.

"Your suitcase had already been unpacked and you still have your stuff from when you stayed here last. They are still in your room." He said, moving past her to stand by the king-sized bed while removing his watch.

"You still have that?" She gestured to the brown leather-band watch, with a jerk of her chin. She had given it to him for his 19th birthday. She was surprised he still had it; she didn't expect to see him wearing it.

"Yeah, its my favourite." He winked at her. His words held an underlying meaning that she was afraid to acknowledge. She blushed a dark shade of red and looked down, the gold-coloured rug suddenly becoming interesting. Ok,seriously she needs to stop this! She was blushing like she'd never been winked at by a man before! She peeped at him through her lashes and noticed his gaze leisurely surveying the length of her body. "You know, that dress suits you quite well Katy." His voice slightly husky.

Her dress was emerald green and knee-length. The neck line was a square shaped that didn't show much cleavage. All-in-all, the dress appeared modest, unless you consider the way it clung to her rounded hips, breasts and bottom of which she had no control. The most un revealing of clothes looked like a skin-tight bodysuit on her. She didn't like it and was embarrassed by the Kyle was looking at her.

Blushing furiously, Kate turned away. In an attempt to hide her flustered state, she stepped toward the window. Abandoning caution, she flung the old-fashioned sash windows open. A rush of the chilly evening air greeted her and her eyes were instantly met with a pair of light blue ones. The thin middle-aged man the pair of eyes belonged to, rushed off as soon as he saw her. Was he listening to their conversation? "What the hell! There was a man outside our window!" She exclaimed.

"Hmm, that must be Jeffery, he's the only one allowed to come this side of the mansion without permission. He is my father's new personal butler. I have no doubt father sent him to see if anything was "going on" between us, if you know what I mean."

Kate's face paled. "That's just twisted. Why would your father want to know if we're having sex?"She questioned, turning fully to face him, hands on hips.

"I have a nagging feeling that he has doubts about us being engaged." His brows drawing together as if in deep thought.

"I knew we shouldn't have done this! Someone was bound to find out!" She was in hysterics now.

"Keep your voice down. No one found out anything. We said nothing, that Jeffery could have overheard, that would give us away. All we have to do is play the hopelessly-in-love card."

"How are we going to do that. You aren't hopelessly in love with me!" She frantically whispered.

Kyle didn't miss the fact that she didn't say ''we' aren't in love with each other'. Did that mean she had feelings for him? No, Katy was a blunt person; she wouldn't hesitate to come right out and tell him, if she's in love with him. Strangely, he felt a tinge of disappointment again at the thought that she was not in love with him. He quickly shrugged it off and addressed the matter at hand.

"With a few carefully-timed display of affection, no one would ever believe that we are anything but in love." A slow wolfish smile spread across his soft lips and his eyes lit up with a devilish gleam.

"Why can't you just tell your father that we aren't engaged and get it over with?" She sighed.

Of course she didn't understand the torture he would have to go through in his father's lectures and the old man's frequent attempts at match-making. He really didn't want to have to sit with some unknown woman having to make awkward conversations just to please his father.

"I already told you why. Look, its soon time for dinner. I'm going to go take a shower in the bathroom down the hall; you can use the en suit." With that,he strolled out of the room without another word.
