Needless to say, you were excited about this mission.

You get a chance to go back home and see the village again.

Sure you won't see it for long, but to you it's long enough.

You stood at the gate ready to leave with your backpack in hand.

'I wonder if I'll see him...' you thought to yourself as you suddenly thought about when you were little, but you need to but that behind you.

You're 18, not 10 it's time to put it behind you.

You shook your head and started to walk all the way to the sand

-time skip-

You had arrived in the sand village.

It was just the way you had left it

The Kazekage office was in the center so you decided to go ahead and walk past the playground

As you walked past it you saw children playing in the sandbox

'Looks like the sandbox made friends' you thought back to when you and Gaara would play in the sandbox by your selves

Now it was almost full

You couldn't help but smile as you kept walking

People hadn't recognized you luckily

You didn't want people to think that you betrayed the village by living in Konoha

You walked closer to the Kazekage office when two sand village jounins jumped in front of you defensively

"State your business!" They said in unison challengingly

"I'm (Y/N) (L/N) here to escort the Kazekage." You said unaffected by their threats

"Oh, follow us" said one with deep black hair

You nodded and followed them into the building

"The Hokage will be through that door." He said again and pointed to a door at the end of a hallway.

You nodded again and thanked them

You didn't know why, but you felt uneasy walking down the hallway

You felt like there was going to be something bad on the other side of the door

You kept walking and finally reached the door.

Slowly turning the knob, you entered the room

You almost fell to the floor when you saw red hair looking out a window

'No, his can't be happening' you thought and forced yourself to enter the room

You then managed to speak "L-lord Kazekage..." you mumbled as the red head jerked his head in your direction his eyes widening slightly

"I've come to escort you to konoha...." you mumbled refusing to look at him because you didn't want him to see you

"I didn't think it would be you..." He said in a deep grudge filled voice

"I-I'm Sorry..." you said and finally forced yourself to look at him.

It's like he didn't change, he still had those light green eyes and that 'love' on his forehead

"Don't apologize. It was just a stupid thing that couldn't be helped" he said unaffected

You were baffled.

'Gaara has grown...' you thought to yourself and then stood straight up and bowed

"Whenever you're ready Lord Kazekage." You said and had to stop the urge to cry

"Whatever. Let's go" he said and walked to the door as you stood straight and followed

"Yes, sir..." you said quietly following him out of the office

You made sure you didn't look hurt when you walked out

'I'm still sorry Gaara...' you thought wishing you could say it to him

You and Gaara started to walk closer to the gate

"(Y/N)..." you heard him say as you two walked away from the village "I'm sorry about your brother." He then took a glance at you but quickly looked away

"It's fine Gaara." You said and walked ahead of him

Sure it didn't look like it, but all Gaara wanted to do was hug you. But he didn't want to get attached to you, and possibly hurt you or himself

You pulled a map from your bag and started making plans of where to stay, and about how long it would take to get back to konoha.

"By midnight we should be in the first village if we keep walking." You informed

"Yes..." Gaara said as he kept walking

"You sure did change..." you whispered to yourself

"What was that (L/N)?" He said looking at you with a cold stare

"N-nothing sir." You said quickly.

Truth be told, he heard what you said
