Chapter 15: Back on the field

(Y/N) POV

It's been three days since the fight with that women, and now we're finally leaving.

My foot healed quicker than I thought it would. Over the past 24 hours me and Gaara have just now made it half way.

"Would you like to rest now sir?" I ask Gaara after the sun has went down. Right now we are on a deserted path with no buildings for miles. "No. We've already delayed enough." He replied coldly. I sighed and we kept walking.

Also over the past 24 hours neither me nor Gaara have really spoke with each other about the small argument we had. I know it probably doesn't matter to him, but I cant believe I just straight up told him how I felt. The whole situation is awkward.

"Are you starting to feel weak (Y/N)?" Gaara asked. I shook my self from my thoughts and saw that he was looking back at me.

Oh, I'm trailing behind.

"No im fine, thank you." He turns back around and sighs. I speed up my walking and focus on staying alert.

Never know when that women and her men could show up.

As im scanning the forest around us I'm just so blessed to step wrong and hurt my foot. I immediately try to recover and keep walking while also wincing. "Shit!" I whisper to my self loudly enough for Gaara to hear. He turns to look at me. I look back at him and give him a smile hoping he won't notice. He sighs before he speaks "What did you do?" He rubs his temples with his thumb and index. "Uhh... I'm just.... fixing my shoe." I say and quickly stand up. The pain has subsided and now I can walk, but with a slight limp. I start walking back towards him and give a big smile trying to hide my lies. "(Y/N)." He says giving me and intense stare. I keep smiling.

Shit shit shit.

"I know you're lying to me." I sigh and drop the smile. "Okay whatever I stepped wrong I'm fine now. Let's go" I walk past him but he notices my slight limp. "We're setting up here." He walks of the path and into the forest a little. I stare at him confused, "but you just-"I'm waiting." He cut me off and crossed his arms. I sigh start to set up around where he is standing.

Everything is set up and now we're both sitting by a fire. We've been just sitting here for a while now. It's quite calming. I glance at Gaara. He's watching the fire. I look back at the fire. I wish I could tell what he was thinking. See how he sees me. I sigh and look at home again. This time he's looking at me too. I stare at him for a second and then he looks away. "I'm going to the tent." He says standing. I nod and stay by the fire. After he walks inside the tent I stand up. I look around the area making sure there's no spy's. After about 30 minuets of checking I sit by the fire again. I look at the sky to check the time.

About... 11:20?

I yawn as I watch the fire crackle. I close my eyes, but I am forced to slap my self. I must stay awake! I look around trying to find a distraction. I hear thunder

Oh great

To my luck it starts raining. The fire goes out and I'm left to sit in the dark with only the moon. I sigh and look towards the tent.

I should've brought the extra tent.

I walk to one of the trees and stand under it. I yawn again. Why am I so tired? Probably cause I've been walking for 24 hours. I slid down to sit under the tree watching the moon through the rain clouds. I rub my hands together trying to get some warmth. I decide to count to 100 to pass the time. Right as I get to 56 Gaara walks out of his tent. I watch him as he walks closer to me. I stand up. "Gaara what are you do-" he grabs my hand and drags me inside the tent. "I'm taking you out of this weather." He says as closed the entrance to the tent behind me. The inside of the tent is dark and I can't even see 5 inches in front of my face. "Gaara I have to stay outside what if that woman finds you!" I face where I think he is and cross my arms. "Well if you get sick we waste time, So you're staying in here." I sigh and sit on the dry ground. We sit in silence for a while before I let out a loud yawn. "If you wish to sleep you can." I look around the dark tent looking to where it came from. "That's to far. First you take me from outside and now you're telling me to sleep? You know I'm the one guarding you right?" He sighs "I'm not a maiden in need of defending. Let's remember who saved who here." I scoff "let's remember who did it first." I hear him move closer in my direction.
Can he see in the dark?

"Are you gonna keep arguing or are you going to sleep?" He says I can hear him only a foot from my face. "Fine I'll sleep." I say as I lay down and curl up into a fetal position. I close my eyes and try to sleep but it's so cold I start to shiver. I hear Gaara shift "why are you shaking?" He asks. I guess he can see me. "S-sorry it's just cold..." I say as I try to stop myself from shaking. Gaara sighs and I hear him move. He places a blanket over me and he gets under too.
