Chapter 16

"G-Gaara?" I ask as I feel him slide under the blanket. "What?" He says. "Y-You don't have
t-to lay with me." I say shyly "I'm trying to make sure you don't get sick." He said coldly. I didn't notice they were chattering until now. "S-sorry." He sighed and ignored me. I turned onto my other side my back facing him.

I close my eyes trying to sleep but it's weird having Gaara laying beside me. I could feel his breath on the back of my neck and made me shiver every time he exhaled. "Are you still cold?" He asked. Shit he noticed. "U-uhhh.... y-yes..." I lied. Everything already felt wierd. He scooted closer to me and then I felt him hesitantly put a hand on my shoulder. Oh my god he really is warm. Maybe it's all the sun from the sand? It was awkward but I brushed it off and soon fell asleep, ignoring the fact that Gaara was laying behind me.

Gaara POV

I hesitantly put my hand on (Y/N). She really does feel cold. I don't know why I do this, but if we're gonna get to Konoha by the Kage meeting then I'll have to make sure she dosent get sick. I soon heard her soft snores and took my hand off her. I turned onto my back. I felt her stir behind me. I ignored her for the time being and closed my eyes.

After a while I felt a small hand wrap around me and pull itself closer to me. I looked over my shoulder and saw (Y/N), still asleep, hugging me like a teddy bear. Why must she do this? I thought to myself as I released her hands from and tried to go back to sleep. Soon after she wrapped her arms around me again. I sigh and turned over. Right as I faced her she wrapped herself tighter around me. I tried to take her off but her grip was strong. I sighed again in defeat and slowly wrapped my arms around her too.

I didn't know why, but I just felt that she was important. Well she was already important before but now she was more important. I soon drifted off to sleep letting the sounds of rain and her snores take me to sleep.

(Y/N) POV

That night I dreamt peacefully wakeing in the morning to the pleasant smell of wet forest. I was really warm, it almost felt like i was sleeping right under the sun. I felt movement in front of me and slowly opened my eyes. At first all I knew was that my arms were wrapped around someone their arms were wrapped around me. I then looked to see red messy hair.

Oh SHIT! I quickly retracted my arms and sat up remembering last night. Garra awoke as well and jolted up. For once I actually saw a look of shock on his face. I quickly straightened my face and grabbed my shoe. "S-Sorry but I need to go get our stuff ready to leave!" After I'd slipped my other shoe on I raced out of the tent and into the woods.

After running for a while I stopped and caught my breath. I leaned on a tree and slipped to the ground. I put my head in my hands. Why am I reacting like it's something I didn't want? I thought but then quickly regretted thinking. I Heard crunching twigs and looked around the tree to see Garra. "You have a bad habit of running away from things."

"I'm sorry I just..." I sighed and continued "I just thought that I took advantage of you. I'm sorry Kazekage." For a long moment there was silence then Garra slid down next to me. "I don't think you did. This sounds foolish of me to say, but I liked the feeling of it when we payed together." I blushed after he said the words and looked at him. "Well... Garra, I don't think your foolish for saying that cause I feel the same way about it." Garra looked right at me. "(Y/N), ever since you left the village I was never the same. After you left I fell into the state that I still am. A loneliness that only cured it self when you showed up." I kept my gaze on him as we both started leaning in closer together. "G-Garra, I'm so sorry I left you. I shouldn't have ran into the forest, I should've ran to you." I looked away but Garra put his hand on my cheek and turned my head towards him again. "(Y/N)..." he whispered. I could fell his warm breath against my lips. I knew that we shouldn't but I wanted to so badly now.

Garra finally broke the distance between us pressing his warm lips against mine. I wrapped
my arms around him, letting the kids take me over. He broke away after a few more seconds. "(Y/N)... now I know why I missed you so much..." he paused and held my hands tightly I looked Into is dark and waited for him to continue.

"It's because I love you."
