6. Drive Me Home

Today's work will be full. I have to work until midnight due to many deadlines. The clock keeps ticking and it's 11:02 PM now. I'm still in front of my laptop, typing some boring letters which need to be send on time.

"Still here?" Grey walks approaching.

"Deadlines." I reply with my eyes still looking to the laptop.

"Right. You should not push yourself too hard, Olivia. Other employees have gone home." He acts like he cares.

"This is my job and I have to do what I should do. You can go home now, it's late, manager." I look at him like I'm comanding him to.

"I'll take you home. Let's go."

"Are you kidding me?" I giggle in amazement.

"I mean it." He looked direcly to my eyes.

This is not the first time I experience this fast heartbeat. This can't be love, I can't love someone like Grey. But there's something in him I can't see, and his eyes seem to tell me that there's something important I need to know, but I can't find what it is. I wish I could reject his invitation, but this time, I can't. He drives me home and then my favorite music starts playing in his car.

"Ah! This is my favorite song! May I?" I touch the volume button, hoping that he will allow me to increase the volume. He nods and keep driving the car. Suddenly, the atmosphere is different. The silence between us seems to choke us.

"Why don't you say anything, Grey? I feel bad." I try to start the conversation.

"Nothing, I'm just tired."

"I told you not to drive me home. You should take a rest. It's your first day."

"It's okay. Maybe it's my fate to drive you home."

"Fate....?" I'm shocked that he uses the word 'fate' that reminds me of Madam Flaush.

"Maybe this is a destiny rather than a fate. Because it's my first day and meeting a person like you twice then drive you home this late night.........yes, it's destiny." He smiles.

This is the first time that a person shows me the definition of destiny, not love. He's different, very different.
