When we pulled around the corner into the parking lot of my high school, a dozen people stopped and stared. I'm guessing the car was a lot nicer than I thought it was. He found a parking spot and turned the car off to let me out.
"Thanks for giving me a ride," I said awkwardly. I've never really been given a ride by anybody except my mom and dad. And from my lack of friends came nothing but social awkwardness.
"No problem," He said back, looking slightly puzzled. It was as if he was seeing this huge picture, and I only saw an inch of it. Ignoring the thought, I smiled and opened the door. when I got out, people were still staring. It was strange, like they were actually seeing a person of importance, not some extra in a movie, hidden behind a pretty face in lots of make up.
Lucky for me, the stairs were a little less crowded than usual, and I slipped past everybody as silently as I usually do. Sadly, the hallway was as crowded as ever. I made my way to class, politely pushing people out of the way.
When lunch came around, everybody was murmuring about something, and when I walked past, they stared. I went to my usual spot in the cafeteria with Trish. She looked up from her home made sandwich and saw me. She looked at me excitedly, a wild gleam in her eyes.
"Guess what," She said.
"What?" I asked back, not surprised in her enthusiasm. She always seemed to be excited about something. Whether it was of importance or not.
"I got us tickets to the concert going on in the stadium tonight!" She exclaimed, shouting to where the tables next to us could hear. Usually, concerts were a rare treat to me, considering the amount of money my family has, and I only go to them when I have tickets from my birthday or Christmas, so, I was surprised.
"Really?" I asked. "Who's performing?"
"I don't know," she said back, "I heard it was supposed to be some new guy who people are calling a rising star"
She said the last part sarcastically. Over the years, there has been lots of new singers that have opportunities to get into fame and money, but when the time comes, people back out. They do drugs. Commit suicide. Find other ways to continue living an average life surrounded by average people.
"Cool," I say, "Maybe he'll actually be good. " A few of the times, people have gone up on stage, and ended up in tears. They think they're all amazing and special, but their average people trying to be something they're not.
At the end of the day, I meet Trish at the parking lot, following her to her car. I told her about Kai and how I almost died earlier that morning. She said she hoped to see him at the concert so she could get him back for almost killing me. Then I told her it was ok, that he helped me in return.
Later, when it was almost time to leave, I decided to borrow clothes from Trish, due to the fact I was wearing the same shirt and jeans I've been wearing for a year now. Luckily, she agreed to help me pick an outfit. I decided to dress unusually, in jean shorts and a mint green crop top with a music note on it. To complete the look, I added a silver bracelet and white converse. The nice thing about being friends with Trish is that I can borrow clothes pretty much whenever I want.
Leaving for the concert was exciting. We were practically bouncing around in the seats, dancing and singing along to songs to "get our moves ready" Trish said. The car ride to the stadium wasn't bad. I only got carsick in a few places, unlike I normally do. It's always like every turn is the equivalent of a whole roller coaster. By the time we got to the parking lot, It was almost completely full. It took us a total of fifteen minutes just to circle the parking lot, and upon finding nothing open, we ended up parking on the side of the road a while away from the parking lot itself.
In the end, it ended up taking us a total of 57.87 minutes exactly( I was timing, despite the laughter from Trish) to get to the entrance. when we got there, we made our way to the stage just as music was starting. when the singing began, someone stepped out on the stage, it was no other than...
