Lance McClain was one of those. Those sunny surfer boys that could melt your heart with a smile and steal your breath with a glance. A casual playboy who just liked to have a good time. His family adored him, kids in his school welcomed him with open arms at every turn, and both guys and girls fell for his breathtaking grin and sky worthy blue eyes. The seaside surf shop that his parents owned was one stolen from the pages of a magazine, and the dedicated boy spent hours there working and seducing the local beach bodies. He was the kind of person that would laugh until they cried, run on the wild side, and still come home to help his mother bake brownies. A carefree, loving, unbeatable individual. But Lance McClain was one of those. Those who hid their shattered spirits, behind stunning smiles.
Keith Kogane was one of those. Those secretly kind outcasts with three bucks to their name and nothing to lose. Complete with a temper and severe abandonment issues. A scowling mess with a grand total of three people who liked him, and a secret poet. He poured his emotions into his work, and what inspiration he didn't get from the disaster of a childhood he called his own; was lifted from the ever present nature around him.
He never backed down from a fight once when challenged. Stood up against anyone who dared to abuse another. His family was nonexistent, until four months ago, when he was thrown out of foster care and into the arms of a caring middle aged couple in a small beach town no one had ever heard about. A sweet, kindhearted, loner who was only looking for his place in the world. But Keith Kogane was one of those. Those who's pleas for love, were dashed by a merciless sea of hate and ignorance.
Have you ever heard the story, told in whispers to the willing ears of love struck teens? That made you want so desperately to believe in tales woven in Greek mythology? Well, in case you haven't, here it is. In the beginning humans were quite different. A fusion of two separate people, to form a single being. They had two heads, four arms, and twice as many thoughts.
But Zeus, the king of the gods, saw that these beings were becoming too powerful. Fearing for Olympus, he split the beings in two, leaving the remnants to roam the planet, searching for their other half. They say this is why humans seek companionship like they do. We are all just wandering the world, searching the surface for what we are missing. That other half to make us whole.
And this may be the story of two of those halves finding their way together.
