Hello readers, I'm PureheartTheNeko and I want to welcome you to "The Definition of Being Human"! Like my other stories, I wanted to take time to explain some things and tell you more about this book and things you should know.

History: The Definition of Being Human" was and is the first full Pokémon novel I've made since my somewhat popular "Forgotten Warriors" series. I got the inspiration and idea for the story a few weeks after the release of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon in 2016. It was the one idea that caught me since "Spite Without Shame", so I worked hard and got to publish "The Definition of Being Human" on Christmas of 2016.

Unfortunately, things including school, personal dilemmas, and conflicts with my other Pokémon series prevented me from writing this story as often as I liked. It came to a full halt after new information on the upcoming Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were released. The Ultra world I was building was no longer relevant to the universe Pokémon was still developing, so I had no choice but to put this story on hiatus until things calmed down and wait to continue writing until I played the new Pokémon games.

Well it's been more than a month since the release of Ultra Sun and Moon, and I've been doing my best to rewrite some of the story based on the world Ultra Sun and Moon have made. Apart from the culture of the Ultra Beasts, the original plot is still the same. The only chapters I'm expecting big changes from are the Prologue to Chapter 2, otherwise it should all be about the same.

To Old Readers: o old readers of this book, I want to apologize that I left you in the dark for so long. I want you to know that I had no intention of giving up on this story. Just like my other series, I will not stop writing these books until their done or I'm dead (hey, it happens). There may not be as many of you readers here, but I haven't forgotten about you.

Updates: If this goes up, that means the Prologue has been rewritten and ready for viewing. Chapter 1 and 2 also need to be rewritten, but after they are published, all the following original chapters will go up on a schedule that will be decided in future.

This book we originally going to be entered in the 2018 Pokémon Watty Awards, but unfortunately, the day this came out, it was decided that the books had to be completed to be entered. I will be working hard to try and complete it by the end of the year, but it's very much possible that it will have to be entered in the 2019 awards. In order to try and finish the story by the end of the year, I devised a schedule of updates:

Thursday: "Searching Without Shame" and "The Definition of Being Human" rotate updates for Thursday, meaning one Thursday is SWS3 while next Thursday is TDOBH.

Saturday: Every Saturday there will be a TDOBH update, though I MAY change Saturday updates to Sunday since its not uncommon for me to do schoolwork on Saturdays.

Casts: As people may notice, I have been playing with the cast feature on Wattpad. It allows the writer to list the characters of the story and add an actor or actress that they feel represents the character to best. The characters on the list have only been central Pokémon cast, and the actors and actresses are merely who's voices I hear in my head when a certain character speaks. That's why I added the (voice) to the list. The voice actors or actresses chosen were chosen because of their likeness to how the characters sound in my head, nothing more.

Now, with all that said, I think I have a book to write, and I hope you enjoy.

[Featured Song: "Shatter Me" by Lindsey Stirling featuring Lzzy Hale

Reasoning: Whenever I listen to this song, I almost always think of this story. The theme of the story is just as plain as the title; the definition of being human. In society today, it is widely debated on what it is or means to be human. Who the definition applies to has also changed over centuries.

Most of the characters in the story have their own internal conflicts, and for the main characters, both the internal and external conflicts depend on one thing; their own definition of being human. The word in the dictionary, the one accepted by almost everyone, has a different definition through our eyes. Don't let the world define who you are, and instead go broad. Shatter what's expected of you and do more, because the only human who can truly define you is yourself.]
