Chapter 18

*Fallon's POV*

"Again? Who wrote this?"

"I don't know. I found it in my chair this morning."

I looked down at the sheet of paper in my hands.

Ms. Kirk has hand-to-hand combat skills almost equal to the captain's. Her persistence in fighting opponents much larger than her is one of the reasons she has won so many of her fights. She was taught by the Enterprise's physical coordinator, Jonsan Wila, and surpassed him just after her fifteenth birthday. While these are incredible stats for a girl her age and height, she does not show much of the same perseverance in a sparring match as she does in a true battle.

"Does this honestly sound like me? I'm like a noodle!"

Dad looked at me apprehensively as I shook the papers in his face. We were in our room, otherwise I probably wouldn't have done that.

"We're sparring," he said, and started to gather proper attire for fighting.

"Excuse me?"

"In five minutes I want you at the training room. We're going to fight. Everything you'd do in a normal fight. First one down loses."

My jaw dropped. I didn't want to fight my dad!

"Five minutes," he reminded me.

But before either of us could leave, Uncle Pavel came rushing up. "We need you on the bridge. Scott has news about the warp deck."

Warp deck? Dad and I abandoned our sparring outfits and rushed to the bridge, where we found Aunt Nyota handing Uncle Scotty a towel. He was soaked!

"What happened?" asked Dad.

"I'm hopin you'll be able to tell me. We've got a huge problem though, and I don know how it happened."
