"Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people."
-Carl Jung
'What do you mean you didn't do your homework?' The teacher asks angrily. I shrug, 'I'm sorry. I forgot.' Of course, I'm not going to tell her that I watched Netflix all night. She sighs, 'This will be your last warning. If you forget it one more time, you will have detention. You hear me?' 'Yes, ma'am.' I say while I try to look as guilty as possible. She looks at me for a couple of seconds before looking back at the class. 'Well then, while we're at it. Is there someone else that forgot his homework?' A couple of other kids raise their hands up in the sky. 'You got to be kidding me.' She says while throwing her hands in the air. 'I give you homework for a reason! Not so you guys can just forget it...' The silents in the class is deadly. No one dares to make a sound.
After a minute of silence, she starts to talk again. 'Please open your book on page 24, paragraph 2. James, if you would be so kind as to read the first chapter.'When the bell rings I quickly leave the classroom before the teacher can change her mind. I don't want to stay any longer in this class right now. My next class is biology. It's my favorite subject.
I walk to my next class while putting my hoodie on my head because even though it's my favorite subject, there is one big but. There is this one asshole, named Jack, in the class, I used to date. I was ignorant. How could I have ever known he didn't love me? That it was just a bet, with some friends? Well, mistakes can be made. And that is one I will never fall for again.
When I walk into the class, I see that the teacher hasn't arrived yet. I walk to my seat when Jack walks up to me. 'Hey darling, looking good today, but I liked you more under me, without those clothes on.' I Look him in the eyes while saying, 'Let me tell you something, Jack. I know that you have a small dick, but that doesn't mean you need to act like such a big one.' His friends burst out into laughter. He wants to say something back, but the teacher walks in. I quickly walk to my chair. It's beside the window, which gives me the best opportunity to wander off. I can't do anything about it, but the lessons are so boring. We will literally start with discussing our homework and at the end of the class, we aren't even finished with that!
The day goes on and on. Minutes feel like hours and hours feel like days. The only bright side is my friend Layla. She keeps texting me in class and because the teachers don't pay any attention to me. I can keep texting her. She isn't in the same school I am to my displeasure, but she is only a couple of minutes away, so we always go home together on our bikes.
I go to my locker and pack my stuff. The weight of my bag feels like a couple of tons, but of course, I know that isn't true. I need to wait about ten minutes before Layla gets here. So I get my bike and I wait until Layla will come. I grab my phone out of my bag, to see I have a new friend request on facebook, twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. I frown, well that is very specific. I first open facebook and open friend request. It says, Dreagan Magnus. Wasn't that the guy from that club? I press on delete request. Not going to do it, that always ends badly.
The next I open is twitter, again the name Dreagan Magnus appears. This is getting a little weird. Again I delete his request.
I open Instagram. If it is the same guy I'm going to close my fucking phone, I think. Again Dreagan Magnus.I sigh and close my phone. I've heard enough horror story's so that I won't fall for this one. I try to think back to the party. Didn't he say something about light to his darkness or something? Is he like depressed? But that doesn't mean he would act like that when I touched his hand right? Maybe he has like a phobia? I shake my head. Don't go thinking into it too deeply. He was just someone that wanted to befriend you. And who knows maybe you gave him your number? It's not like you can remember it anyway.
I scroll through Instagram for a couple of minutes until I hear someone screaming my name. 'Jessica!' I look up and see Layla coming my way. I wave and put my phone away. 'Well that took you long enough', I say. 'Oh, I'm sorry miss perfect. Just because you are on a school closer to home, doesn't mean that that gives you the right to criticize me like that. And besides', she says. 'I met this really cute boy, so I'm more than happy that I let you wait.' I laugh. 'Alright, I'll let it slip this one time. But the saying is bro's before hoes remember?' She begins to bike away while saying. 'Good thing that we aren't bro's then.' I smile and quickly step on my bike and go after her.
