I'm not asking you to love me,
I'm just asking you to care.
I just want you to be with me
When no one else is there.
I'm just a girl in the corner,
Just another pretty face,
I don't want to be your girlfriend,
I just want a friendly face.
All my friends have gone and left me,
They have other lives to lead;
But since you're a stranger to me,
It won't matter if you leave.
I just need someone to be with,
Who can make me talk and laugh,
Not someone to be involved with,
That just makes my shoulders sag.
Yes, it's true that you don't know me,
And it's better off that way;
If you ever saw the real me,
I'd be pushing you away.
You see, mister, I'm a flight risk,
I just hurt the ones I love.
You don't really want to know me.
I'm a devil from above.
So just keep your distance from me,
And I'll never break your heart;
And I know you'll never hurt me
If our lives are worlds apart.
(And should you choose to ignore me,
Don't say you ain't been warned.
Your hurt was your own choosing,
It's not my fault you're scorned.)
