All the jokes you never meant
Are still remembered in the end,
Instead of gifts you saw my fear,
Only called me brave when the end was near,
When what was true from the start
Nearly tore us apart.
Can I say that I miss how you laugh at me?
You cannot grasp what I did for you,
All the things you never knew,
All the times I told a lie,
And it breaks my heart to see you try.
Take me back to when the dragon was defeated by you,
And you laughed so hard that I laughed too.
Can I say that I miss how you laugh with me?
"If I need a servant in the next life -", you said
When sleep seemed relieving and we were half-dead.
"Don't ask me", I replied to you,
But you should know that I want you to.
The smile on your face was not your last,
But good times always fly so fast.
Can I say that I miss how you laugh?
Sometimes tears would be more honest
But we laugh because it is a promise,
A light in the dark,
A hopeful spark
In the eyes of the one who doesn't leave you alone
And a memory you will always own.
