I CAN REMEMBER
I can remember every time I said I love you
But I can't remember if I grabbed my phone
I can remember how I'd sneak in your bed at night
But can't remember the reasons why
I can remember the way I'd pick at my food
But I can't remember what I was picking at
I can remember how we'd jam in the car
But I can't remember if it was after or before you had to leave
I look at the photographs and smile
I can't remember them but I can picture a time
When my family was whole and warm
I can remember waiting till 12 at night just to see you
But I can't remember how many times I did
I remember flipping through the channels that you let me watch
But I can't remember why I fell asleep before I heard you knock on my door to get me
I can remember the sugary drinks
But I can't remember how you could afford
I can remember your snores
But I can't remember how they didn't wake me up
I look at the photographs and smile
I can't remember them but I can picture a time
When my family was whole and warm
I can remember when I first met her
But I can't remember why she was so short tempered with me
I can remember the new house and the new car
But I can't remember how many times she broke your heart
I can remember all the times you got back together
But I can't remember why I got a little brother
I can remember his first steps
But I can't remember why she wouldn't let me near him
I look at the photographs and smile
I can't remember them but I can picture a time
When my family was whole and warm
I can remember the feeling of having a baby brother
But I can't remember why he had to be from a different mother
I can remember when I first met your father
But I can't remember why he wasn't supposed to be bothered, with
I can remember all of your bad grammar
But I can't remember why you didn't put up a glamor
I can remember you being so blunt
But I can't remember a time when we had some, money
I look at the photographs and smile
I can't remember them but I can picture a time
When my family was whole and warm
I can remember that I love you
But I can't remember why
I can remember that your my father
But I can't remember how you were a failure
Cause you weren't
And I love every second I've spent
On this earth
With you
I love you dad
You are one in a few
Don't ever stop loving
Even when your heart feels nothing
Just know that I'm in love with you
