DROWNING
Water filled lungs
Scratching, clawing for our vital substance
Fight for one last chance of air
Until our lungs give way
And are filled with salty liquid
Screams are yelled
But are deafened by the thick fluid
Desperate breaths are taken
Only to quicken you once more
Fading light evades your grasp
And the ticking falters in your ears
Tick....tick.....tick......tick
And Slowly but surely
Your worst fears are realized
Because the pain becomes too much
Because suffocation is your only thought
Because drowning is the worst way to go
But it is your only way to go
And sleeping with the fishes isn't only a metaphor anymore
It simply is
The light behind your eyes fades
And your body is lifeless
Until you are nothing more than a husk
Filled with water
Instead of yourself
