We started leaning in. My heart kept pounding. He stopped and touched my lips with his finger. He chuckled. "Your lips are soft." He told me. I started to feel myself blush. I pulled a finger up and felt his lips, chuckling. "So are yours." I said nervously. Why did I say that? He smiled with his dreamy smile. "Then let's make them meet." He said. We started leaning in and our lips barely touched when my alarm went off.
I sat up and turned the thing off. I sighed and stared at the mirror across my bed. Drool was running down my face and my hair was tangly. I wasn't exactly a princess in the morning.
I stood from my bed as the thought of me kissing my best friend, Austin Moon, kept running through my head. I'd had dreams like this before, and it's not like I don't exactly enjoy it. I do enjoy it, for some reason. It's not like I actually have feelings for him, although he's pretty attractive. Which makes me wonder why he's never had a girlfriend.
I got dressed with a plain pink shirt, a black jacket, and some black jeans. I just brushed my hair and put on no make up. Then I walked downstairs and my dad smiled at me.
"Why are you smiling at me?" I asked.
"Because I got a message from MUNY," he told me.
MUNY stands for Music University of New York. It's a music school in New York that I've wanted to go to for forever. I tired to audition once but I got nervous. A couple of months ago I auditioned again and I never heard back. Apparently I just did.
I walked over to him and took the envelope. I opened it. The note said:
Dear Ms Dawson,
We are happy to say that we have accepted you and you have a scholarship! We have paid for your plane ticket and your plane should take off on July 11th, one month after your last day of school. We hope to see you soon!
MUNY
I couldn't help but smile, of course. My dad hugged me tightly and took the note from me. "Congratulations,"he said.
I was so happy that I got in, but at the same time I was upset. I had to leave my one best friend. I had to leave Austin. We talked about going to the same college together, but that was before I auditioned. We never spoke of it again.
I fake smiled at my dad and grabbed my backpack before running to my school. I found Austin in the hallway, throwing some books into his locker. I saw prom posts everywhere, and I ran over to him. I tapped his shoulder.
"Guess what," I start off.
"Hold on, Ally," he told me, "I need to ask you to prom."
"What?" I ask.
He smiled. "As friends, of course. It's not awkward going with friends. We don't want to be all sad at prom, do we now?"
I chuckle and shake my head. "Not really."
"Exactly," he said. "What were you going to tell me?"
Why did he ask me that? I was still happy that I was going to the prom with him. For some reason. You don't love him, I told myself.
"Remember when I auditioned for MUNY? Well I got it." I saw this sad look in his face, but at the same time it was happy. I smiled. "I know it's 1,000 miles away, I know. But we'll talk and skype every single day, I promise. Maybe you can visit, if you come up with the money."
He nodded his head and never said anything. The bell ringed and he grinned at me. But then he turned away and walked to class. I felt bad, of course, but maybe he'll get over it.
I walk into class and sit down. Austin was sitting next to me and he starred at me for a minute. I looked at him.
"It's not the end of the world, Austin. I promise you." He nodded.
After school I ran home and ran to my mom. I smiled. "Guess who's going to prom?" Her eyes lit up.
"You are?!" she asked. She sat me down. "With who?"
"Austin."
She smiled. "That's cute. Just keep your hands to yourself."
I chuckled. "I'm not planning on getting pregnant considering the fact that I'm going to college. Plus, I don't want any kids."
She looked surprised. "Ever?"
"Ever." I replied. She sighed.
"I was hoping that maybe I would get some grand kids." She told me. I smirked and stand, then I ran upstairs and and laid in my bed. I was thinking of what it would be like to go to prom with him. His warm body pressing against mine when we dance - if we dance. I'm going to admit it, I was excited to go to the prom with my best friend.
