"HEY! STOP IT!" A young boy shouted at a bigger sized person down at the basketball court behind 2 schools in Bishan.
"What you going to do huh?" The bigger guy asked before pushing the young boy to the ground again.
"All I asked for was $10... unless of course you are so poor you can't even get $10 from your mommy and daddy..." the big guy said before pushing the smaller boy to the floor again, who was on the verge of tears.
As the big guy planned to strike the small boy again, he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see a teenage boy, pretty skinny as well, ready to throw a punch at him.
Smack.
The big guy fell down, holding his nose in pain, while the teenager said, "Pick on someone your own size next time. I see you bullying others again, I'll make sure your hand won't be functioning anymore."
The teenager then took out his wallet, pulled 5 dollars out, gave it to the small kid, and headed to the nearest bus stop, Bishan Interchange.
The teenager saw his bus coming around the corner and stuck out his thumb to show that he wanted a ride. He boarded the bus and put money in, sat down and stared out the window next to his seat. He then got off outside NEX shopping center and waited for another bus to take him to Kovan. When he saw it, he stuck his thumb out again and sat down. He was dropped off outside Kovan MRT station, where again, he waited for another bus to take him home. The cycle repeats. He was dropped off outside his house which was a condominium. He went in, showed his access card to the security and went up the lift to the 17th floor. Which he then used his thumbprint to open the door.
"Hey Jack!" His mom said as he walked in.
"Hey mom, I'm going out for dinner just around NEX, okay?" Jack asked.
"Sure thing Jack. Don't be out too long," his mom replied as she went back to her computer.
Jack Cage. That was his name. He was someone who liked it being alone. He had no friends and always used bus to travel. He liked it that way, especially long rides. Gives him peace. But always in his mind, he just wants to be someone to somebody. But he figured that ain't going to happen anytime soon. Jack went downstairs and found a small stuff toy, he looked around and saw a small girl, probably around 6, looking for something. Cage picked up the stuff toy and asked, "looking for this?" The girl thrillingly replied, "yes, thank you!" She then gave Cage a hug, something which Cage wasn't familiar with. Nevertheless, he waved goodbye to the girl and headed out to buy dinner, which was also going to be done by bus and loneliness.
He ate chicken rice down at the food court in NEX and then headed home, by bus.
As he walked in the condo, he then heard someone crying. He went to take a look, and saw the little girl who he had helped earlier crying and wet, as if she fell into the pond nearby. Cage went up to her and saw a woman who he guessed was her Mother, who was comforting her but had eyes of anger.
"What happened? Did she fall?" Cage asked the Mother.
"No. She was attacked by a teenage boy like you."
