Keith Kogane-McClain

Another year with my husband. My beloved darker skinned husband. We made it through this year amazingly, our 4 year anniversary in Maui where he proposed to me at a beautiful beach when the sun set and the skies were scattered with blues and pinks and oranges.

When we finally got married on Valentine's Day, of any day. The decorations where red and blue on either side, our favorite colors, and in the middle where the aisle was, purple. My adoptive family was there, their faces bright and teary-eyed. Lance's family was there too, his family took up more than half of the seats we had. His siblings watching their youngest brother start crying at the sight of me. My heart swells and melts everytime I think back to our wedding.

And our honeymoon, we went to South Korea to find my birth parents. We got to find my mother, her name was Chae-yeong Kim. She appearantly had a one night stand with my biological father and had fallen in love with him during the summer but he moved away and proposed to another woman before she figured out she carried his child, me.

When she did find out she was carrying me she had a melt down because she knew she wouldn't have enough money to keep me. She would have kept me if she wasn't as poor as she was at the time and by the time she had made enough money to support two people I had been shipped away to America to live. Gone.

It broke my heart hearing this but I don't hate my mother at all. I love her more than anything in the world (besides Lance) and thankfully I can still contact her. We talk a lot. She had learned English just so she could talk to me again once I was shipped away. She is a little rusty with it but it warms me to hear her fumble for words and I help her out.

Months later we moved into our first house, it was small but it was cozy. With some extra bedrooms we could house some other beings. We had some joyous sleepovers with Katie, my older brother Shiro, and Hunk. Popcorn stuffed in our mouths and waking up with terrible terrible headaches.

In June, Lance asked me if I wanted children just after we graduated college together. Now, I haven't always been the greatest with them but I don't hate them at all. I love their adorable little faces and their expressions. Their my soft spot out of everything. That's when we adopted our daughter, Rosēyln. She was only a little one month old with black wavy hair, her eyes a light golden and her features I knew that would make the boys fall for her when she was older.

So far as we have had her in our life my life feels full. Like I can't wish for anything more I am pleased with who I am. Lance started his own café, he named it after Rosié:

Rosié's Garden

The café got good buisness and many many good reviews. It's always busy and we hired some employees that love the job. Rosié enjoys the café a lot, everytime we go in there she is so live with bubbliness and excitement. Lance glows everytime anyone asks about the name of the place and when Rosié and I are there he grabs Rosié and tells them that she loves nature and cries everytime she sees a dead animal.

Today is New Year's Eve, and this year we were holding the party for the new year. We are all decorated and now we just wait for family to arrive. Rosie is watching My Little Pony which is adorable. She owns a lot of them since someone likes to spoil her.

We wait until Lance gets up at a doorbell. Suddenly a storm of people in and its just 11:49 pm. By now I have Rosie in my arms half asleep and we all are dancing around and having fun and we start to watch the ball drop in New York.
