Ummmmm I'm not even sure what there is to say. One chapter left after this, probably a short one. I'm going to start on it right now, and post it maybe in a couple of hours. I'm not even sure if anyone has bothered to read this far, so if you are reading this, thanks so much for your support. Alright. Enjoy.

Chapter Sixteen

The Last Dance

Settle down! Eli shouted. I can't fee you if your captors are hanging on you. You still have a chance to save the boy. Be quiet, and settle yourself!

Vincent struggled to choke down the emotions that were spinning his mind. Only sorrow remained, so sweet for the illusion of giving up.

His nails retracted back into a human form. The arms clutching him relaxed.

"Let go of me." Vincent requested, but this time it sounded hollow. Empty. Spiritless. The arms let go and took their guns back up. Devin looked curious, but was staring into space. Talking with Eli maybe.

Vincent looked up at Todd. "Please." Vince begged. "Please let me go. I can't let him torture Jake. Torture me. I'm begging you to have mercy. This isn't the right path for you."

Todd was stone cold. "I'm sorry." He said, but it was emotionless. "You had your chance."

Alright. It was Eli that spoke to him. I'm going to come out and keep them distracted. Devin will kill the one on his left. You kill the one on your right.

I'm not going to kill him. Vince insisted. I'm sick of death.

Fine. Just unable your captor. I'm coming out.

A flash of orange jumped from the nearest alleyway. It was enormous. Without blinking Todd and Adam began to fire at the object. Devin's claws were already grown, and cleanly slit Adam's throat. Before Todd could realize what was happening, Vincent's claws were at Todd's throat. But he held it there, unsure. Slitting Todd's throat wouldn't kill a werewolf. But it would kill a human. So what would it do to this creature?

Todd dropped his gun. "What do you want?" Todd asked with anger in his voice.

The golden orange wolf was by Vincent's side with a curious expression.

"Devin, take my spot." When Vincent and Devin had switched, Vincent held his chained hands out for Eli to untie. As the chains fell away, Vince rubbed his hands, grabbed the chains off the floor and walked in front of Todd.

"Hold out your hands." Vince commanded.

Todd spat. "Just kill me."

"I don't want to." Vincent growled. "Just do it."

Todd finally complied after a second. "Tie him." Vincent told Devin. "I'm going after Adair."

Eli and Devin nodded, and Vincent took off like a shadow in daylight. As Vincent ran, ears popped out of his head and his nose lengthened into a muzzle. Corse thick black fur grew over his skin, and he started running on all fours. Muscles rippled across his back and down his legs. Canine nails clinked on the pavement. You're going to pay Adair. Vincent thought. He reached his mind out to Eve and thought to her, I'm okay. She was in human form, and surprise blossomed in her mind. Next he went into Adair's mind. Adair was walking casually, taking his time to remember every detail of his revenge. In his bliss Adair couldn't sense what was wrong. He was almost to Jake's apartment.

Vincent urged his legs faster, objects whizzing by. The smell of the city filled his nose, but there was another smell too. Freedom, paired with the promise of revenge. It felt so wonderful to move his limbs; no creature as glorious as he should be confined. Kill him or let him go, just don't keep him contained. It's about time Adair gets a dose of justice. Vince hummed. I'm finally going to kill that evil wolf. The thought was pure bliss to him. After this, there would finally be some peace. Although there was the threat of defeat, Vincent couldn't care less. Adair's form isn't stronger, he thought to himself. He just isn't human anymore. It was actually a weak spot.
