Chapter 26: Pasts

-Luke's Point of View-

I found myself in the middle of grassy field. Blinded with light, I saw two kids playing around with butterflies swarming around them.

I stood there as I reminisce the memory. I want her back.

"Samantha.." sambit ko at pumikit. "Please.. don't try bringing these shitty memories up. You know I wouldn't care anymore since you joined the other side." tiningnan ko ito nang diretso sa mata habang unti-unting naglalaho ang memoryang pinakita niya sa akin.

I tried staring at her composedly and seriously, without a glimpse of sadness from our past.

She was shocked for a bit and looked down. Probably to hide her lonely face. That's what she always do anyway. Hide feelings, hide anything, she never opened up to me. I never knew what she's been feeling, all I knew is that she's happy when she's with me, at least that's what I think.

I tried to believe it but to be honest I don't really understand her. She's my friend, that's all I know. What a useless friend I am.

"I see.." sambit nito at biglang tumawa. I don't know what's so funny.

"Are you saying that I left you?" then she looked at me with wide eyes, looking like a psycho. This isn't her anymore. This is not that Samantha I knew!

Patuloy ko siyang tinitigan. You've gone this far? Logan made you this insane?

I couldn't believe the thought.

"What do you mean?" I looked at her confuzzled. Once again, she laughed. 

"You know, Luke? You never had me on your side anyway." Nanlaki ang mata ko sa sinambit nito. Tila ba nagbalik lahat ng mga ala-ala at patuloy na nagfa-flash sa utak ko. All those memories meant nothing, in just one sentence. All those happiness, sadness, tears we've shared, they suddenly meant nothing but just memories, the moment she said those words.

I'm mad. So mad. I will never forgive Logan. 

"I like you, Sam. Please remain by my side." I hugged her and she replied.

"I'm sorry. I can't.." she said as she hugged back. "We've talked about this.." Hinawakan niya nang mahigpit ang kamay ko. "I had to go. Or else Logan will kill you and everyone! He'll get me! You know that can't happen!"

Hindi ako makasagot. Alam kong napagusapan na namin ito pero bakit parang pakiramdam ko sa pag-alis niya ay parang mas lumalapit lang siya kay Logan? It's like she's taking the bait willingly?

"I had to go, Luke! Kailangan kong lumayo dito sa mundong puno ng bampira at maging normal na tao mu–"

"You can't! Sam, we're chosen! Whatever we do, we can't escape from that pendant's curse!" Tumulo ang luhang matagal nang pinipigilan ni Samantha. "I know.. That's why all we can do is to run.." Narinig namin ang mga paparating na bampira. Samantha hugged me before running away.

Just as I thought. I doubt that I'll be able to stop even when I tried at the very moment. She's leaving me too..just like everyone did.

Napakuyom ako nang maalala ko ang isang ala-alang ngayon ay may magkahalo nang emosyon. Lungkot at saya. Sadness because I didn't get the love I wanted, happiness because she's here right now, in front of me.

Hinugot ko ang isang kutsilyo sa bulsa ko. "I'm sorry, Sam." I whispered underneath my breath.

Sumugod ako. I slashed her with my knife with all I've got. It's fine, this is not Samantha anyway. I will kill this Samantha and bring the one I used to have feelings on.
