Chapter 35: Ace

-Luke's Point of View-

"No rush, huh? Yet you're having a rough time?" I looked at him grinning. The pendant looks beautiful as ever, deceiving as it may be, but it would cost billions.

Logan grit his teeth. Makikita mo sa mukha nito ang nag-uumapaw na galit niya. How scary, pero hanggang 'dun na lang 'yun.

"Give it back!" A thought crossed my mind. There's a possibility that this pendant is what gives him power. But can he control it?

Tumalon-talon ako sa ere habang malalim na nag-iisip. Inalala ko ang mga nagdaang oras, he never used the pendant, it just acts on its own. I know it for sure.

The pendant is letting him borrow its power, even though he's not asking for it. Yes, that's it. Umiling-iling ako, I can't be certain with these unsure thoughts!

But I know, one thing is for sure, he's using the pendant's power, I don't care if the pendant purposedly gives it to him, all I know is we need to destroy the pendant as soon as we can.

I gave Jasmine a sideward glance. She's with Lucas, Rei and Arthur. Her worried expression bothers me so I smiled. Honestly, watching her smiles back at me makes me really happy.

She's my ace and she's the one who's gonna end all of these.

Hindi ko kayang talunin si Logan sa lagay niya ngayon, kahit na pagsama-samahin pa ang lakas naming lahat, it would only make him breathless.

Muling sumugod si Logan. I tried to jump but fate really likes to pull pranks on me. A stone just happened to be chillin' and I tripped.

"Oh shoot." Logan grabbed my leg. Pinaikot-ikot niya ako bago ihagis. I hit my head on the ground and felt dizzy. Blood blocks my vision as I tries to stand.

Dalawang paa ang naaninag ko sa harap ko. Took me long enough to figure out who is it.

"Why..why are you doing this?!" She sounds like she's crying. May kung anong tubig ang tumulo pamula sa taas. Rain? No, these are tears. Her tears.

Logan hit me good. A human could've died with that attack. But luckily, I'm no human.

My head would take a few minutes to heal. Damn it.

-Jasmine's Point of View-

Nabalot ng pula ang mukha ni Luke. He doesn't look good. I have no idea, I never knew that someone could be this cruel. I've always wondered if everyone has their own kind side, but now that I saw Logan, I'm about to forget that belief.

Why? What's the point of doing these? Well these would only accomplish something you want for yourself and that's called being selfish. You always think of something good, something that would benefit you and yourself only.

How sad and infuriating.

Umakto nang kusa ang aking mga paa palapit kay Luke, and little did I know I was crying. Not because of sadness but with madness.

I looked at Logan, his shirt was ripped off making him shirtless, revealing his muscles and tough look.

"Why..why are you doing these?!" Sabi nila, lahat may dahilan. But I couldn't think of any reason for these! These are pointless!

Nakarinig ako ng isang mahinang tawa na nagpatahimik sa aming lahat. I figured it was him.

"Why?" He's surprisingly laughing. Eyes wide opened looking at us. "Isn't it fun?! Oh come on! Don't you like red?! I was just painting!" Tumungo ito. "But with blood!" He's out of control. He has completely lost it.

Tumakbo ito papalapit sa akin. Gaya ng inaasahan hindi na ito kasing-bilis ng kanina.

Hindi ko maipaliwanag ang nararamdaman ko. It felt like I'm bursting with anger. The thought that we can't kill him frustrates me!

Nagpadulas ako sa gitna ng kanyang mga binti at hinigit ang buhok nito pababa. He hit his back on the ground. I tried to run but he grabbed my hair.

I screamed in pain. Halos matanggal na ang buhok ko sa anit ko. "Jasmine!" Narinig ko ang pagsigaw ni Dad.

Pinigilan ito ni Rei. Lumingon akong muli ngunit malayo na ako kay Logan. "Yo." I'm with Lucas now. "What just happened?" Naguguluhang sambit ko.

Iniangat ni Lucas ang isang pamilyar na bagay. "Strings?" Nakangiting tumango ito sa akin. "I've been tying strings on his body while he fights." Tumingin ako sa baba. The strings left marks on Logan's body.

But still, Lucas was fast. It needs perfect timing yet he still did it. He's a real risk taker.

Napalingon ako sa nagwawalang si Logan. Those marks sure hurts. Dumudugo ang ilan dito at mukhang malalim naman ang iba. Lucas can be really terrifying sometimes.

Dinala ni Rei si Luke palapit sa amin. "Thank you." Sambit nito. "You almost messed up but still amazing." I know he's amazed.

Luke's wounds already healed a bit. He stood up and something glowed on his pocket.

"The pendant?" Gulat ang ekspresiyon nito. Mukhang hindi niya inasahan ang pangyayari. "How?"

-Luke's Point of View-

"How?" Wait, the pendant can still give him power even if it's not in his possession? Come to think of it, it never crossed my mind. There's a lot of odds yet I ignored them.

So in the end, having this is useless. I referred the pendant as it continues to glow.

Tumingin ako kay Logan na nakangisi. His wounds are healing. This can't happen. I miscalculated everything.

Then that leaves us no choice. Hinawakan ko nang mahigpit ang pendant, I tried to crack it but it won't!

Damn it!

Pasugod na si Logan and we managed we dodged him. Logan then aimed at me, muli itong sumugod sa akin. The pendant is continuously giving him power. That's unfair.

I'm getting tired. I have to think of something. Something to destroy this pendant.

If I can't break it, then who? Nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang mapagtanto ang isang bagay.

Yes! The chosen! It must be Jasmine!

Silly me! Thinking of complex things when the answer is clearly in front of me!

Kaagad akong lumapit kay Jasmine but Logan grabbed my arm. "Rei!" Sigaw ko at inihagis ang pendant.

Tila ba bumagal ang pangyayari. Rei quickly responded and caught the pendant. From the looks of it, he already had this all solved.

He acted quickly and told Jasmine to destroy it. He even gave her a dagger.

Buong lakas na sinaksak ni Jasmine ang pendant. The pendant cracked and Logan coughed up blood.

Logan fell on his knees as his blood slid down the ground.

Jasmine's clearly the ace — my ace, I mean. Sambit ko sa isip ko.
