I'll look to like if looking liking moves
Startled. The double doors open before me almost like an automatic door. Within an instance, the glimmer of the chandelier blinded my eyes whilst being hypnotised by rich Persian patterns that adorned the interiority. I'd visited more mansions than I could count, but the Fitzpatrick household was impressive, it instantly stood out from the rest.
"Welcome, Ms.Claudia Beaumont" I trailed behind my mother, who was greeted by a man and a woman, who I presumed was Marlon and Veronica Fitzpatrick. "This is my daughter, Alexandra Rose Beaumont" my billion-dollar smile was quite rare, I usually maintained the resting bitch face look to radiate the fiery impression, but I spared a little grin at the Fitzpatrick's.
"These are my beloved sons" The opulent and grand staircase was the focal point of the foyer, that's where two masculine figures were situated. They came forward within a closer proximity for an introduction, close enough for my own personal analysis.
"My eldest, Jonathan Kennedy Fitzpatrick" Veronica placed her shoulder on him, his facial hair was impeccable, almost too elegant and groomed. It complimented his mature features with his dark hair and tanned skin. "My youngest, Vernon Antonio Fitzpatrick" he stood on the left, roughly the same height as his older brother, maybe a tiny bit taller but he still had the same dark hair, except this time, he was clean shaven. A slight stubble at the minimum, but nothing compared to his older brother. His skin was rather pale, all in all, with his features and appearance, he seemed more tame and innocent than his brother.
"Feel free to call me Toni" He added.
"Call me Kenn"
"Call me Alexa" I decided to chime in.
"How charming" my mother commented, widening a smile. "You both look like fine men"
"Oh I guarantee you, my sons are very much so" Veronica ascertained. "They're very much looking forward to getting to know Alexa during the party"
"Indeed, my daughter will be socialising as much as she can, won't you, Alexa" she turned to me.
"I'll look to like if looking liking moves" I remarked.
"Quoting Romeo and Juliet, quite intelligent I see" Kenn noticed.
"Hmmm, I'm impressed, I certainly don't encounter a lot of people who'd acknowledge that" I raised my eyebrow.
"I studied english literature in high school" He replied.
"What a coincidence, so did I" I smiled.
"Looks like you two have a lot in common already" Veronica exclaimed.
"All in due time, we must let Ms.Claudia and Alexa, rest and relax" My dad recommended. "...In time for tonight"
"Wait, where is Mr.Beaumont?" Veronica recognised my father's absence.
"My husband can't possibly afford to leave his beloved company and businesses without anyone keeping it in order, he doesn't rely on any of his worker's loyalties" My mother explained. "But he will join us at a later date...eventually, when he's dealt with his busy situation"
"You know what industry and business can be, busy busy busy" my dad chuckled.
"Certainly" my mother laughed along.
"Claudia, I'll show you to your chambers" Veronica volunteered. "Boys, be a dear and show Alexa where her quarters are"
"With pleasure" Kenn says, nudging Toni on the shoulder.
"Celeste will be your personal maid" Veronica gestured at the young girl in a maids outfit, addressing my dozens of bags.
I trailed behind the two of them in suits whilst marvelling at the impeccable lodgings, glancing at the expensive pieces arranged around the house. It took me quite big strides to cover the size of each marble step of the grand staircase as I held onto the gold plated banister.
"My dad had this guest chamber revamped just for your stay" Kenn informed me, turning the door knob and revealing my quarters. Indeed, it had been revamped, almost as if it had been designed just for me - which it had been.
A crystal chandelier dangled from the ceiling, that gave the room a rose tint, along with the white and incredibly light shade of pink wallpaper. I waltzed around the chambers ; there was a queen sized bed, layered with rose silks and velvet cushions. My heel felt the material of the white fur rug laid out on the floor.
"Roses" I admired the bouquet on top of the white dresser, with a tag that read enjoy your stay, Alexandra, we hope you find what you're looking for. Of course, they had to have been hinting at finding a husband. Beside the bouquet was a collection of magazines, not any magazines but certain ones with me on the cover, a huge variety.
"Champagne?" I offered the two Fitzpatrick's a glass, pouring the expensive bottle on the silver tray.
"Sure" Kenn immediately responded whilst Toni kept quiet, I figured he was rather shy and in his own comfort zone compared to his brother.
"So how long are you staying?" Kenn asked, picking up the champagne glass off the tray.
"Honestly, I don't particularly know. It seems to me that I'll be staying a while" I sighed. "So you won't be getting rid of me that easily" I stared at Toni.
"I heard you've been scouting for a husband..." Kenn mentioned, I knew it was coming.
"You've heard right. I've met gazillions of men but none of them do my standards" I rolled my eyes, taking another sip of the sparkling champagne.
"You must have high standards" Kenn stated.
"Damn right I do" I nodded, sauntering over to the vanity set, where a navy box imprinted Buccellati. I peeked in slightly, glistening of diamonds seek through the gap. "Pft, I was expecting a Harry Winston" I closed the box again, sarcastically. These people were trying to woo me with materialistic items, how basic.
Without a doubt, there was multiple welcoming gifts hidden within my quarters, playing hide and seek. There was possibly a Louis Vuitton purse underneath the covers of my bed, a gold plated toilet seat or a diamond ring, that matched my necklace, lying around the windowsill.
"Why don't we make a toast?" Kenn suggested as I poured out three glasses of champagne and handed each of them to the two of my suitors.
"To what?" I asked.
"For you, as a welcome" he replied, with a widened smile.
"I won't disagree on that one" I nod. "Cheers"
"Cheers" they exclaimed in unison.
"Your bags, madam" Celeste arrives, heaving up my luggage.
"Just leave it next to the wardrobe" I pointed.
"We should let her prepare" Toni suggests, gesturing at his brother to leave.
"Yeah, that would be best" He leaves the champagne glass on the tray. "Celeste will refill the tray"
"Yes, sir" she scurries to the tray, following her master's orders.
"Last time I checked, she's my maid, she follows my orders" I cheekily reminded him, marking my territory, I didn't let any man handle my business.
"You're under my roof, sweet pea" He returned.
"Nope, this is my quarters" I smiled at him, grinning.
"Feisty" he puts in a last word before sashaying out the room, tagging along with his brother. I closed the door, enjoying my solitude.
