Chapter 12: Girls and Chimichangas

(a/n) I just realized that I've lowkey self-promoed both of my workplaces in this story before I even started working there. Crazyyyyy.

"They know?!" Reese exclaimed.

"Yeah, didn't you know that?" I asked, frowning.

"No! Why did you spill?" she demanded, poking my chest with a sharp finger.

"I didn't!" I retorted. "You did, giving Faith little hints and such!"

"What are you talking about? I haven't talked about the band at all on this stupid trip!"

"Then how did they figure it out?"

"I don't know, Mr. Talks-A-Lot," Reese snapped. "As long as they don't do anything crazy or stupid, then I guess we can stay with them. But one wrong move on their part or your part--"

"Why is everything my fault?!" I cried. "I haven't done anything wrong in forever!"

She gave me a flat look. "Are you serious right now? You're even dumber than you look."

I scowled. "You're not my best friend anymore. My best friend wouldn't treat me like this."

Reese's jaw dropped, and she placed her hand over her heart dramatically. "Oh no, Luke Hemmings has taken the title of 'best friend' away from me! Whatever shall I do?"

"Don't be a jerk," I grumbled.

"Make me, you dumb nut."

I was one name-call away from getting physical when Faith interrupted us.

"Hey, sorry to cut in on your little love fest," she said, stepping outside the trailer. "Jasmine wants to talk to you guys."

Reese gave me a look that said, "We'll finish this later" and stomped inside. I followed her, flexing my fingers and feeling bad that I ever thought about hitting Reese. I hated violence, so why would I even think about it? I knew that she and Michael had physically fought before, but I didn't want to stoop to that level. I was better than that, wasn't I?

"Hey," Jasmine said once we were on the trailer. I looked for a blush on her cheeks or a hint of a cute smile, something she always did whenever I was with her, but there was neither. "I was wondering if it was okay with you guys if we stopped somewhere to pick up groceries?"

"Again?" Reese exclaimed.

"Again?" Faith scoffed. "The last time we bought groceries was, like, forever ago."

"Fine," the blue-haired girl sighed. "We can go get groceries. Is there a store nearby?"

"Not exactly," Jasmine said slowly. "That's why I wanted to ask. There's a gas station at the next exit, and I was hoping to hit two birds with one stone, so...."

"Seriously?" Faith groaned. "Gas station food? I'd rather eat roadkill."

"Gas station food isn't that bad," I argued. I would know.

She snorted. "You probably live off of that shite."

"Language!" Reese shouted at her. "Not all gas station food is bad. Just go to Kwik Trip."

"But that gas station isn't nearby," Jasmine countered.

She sighed. "Fine, I guess we'll live...."

Faith grimaced. "None of you better get food poisoning or something from this, or I'm out."

"It's not like we can control if we get poisoned or not," I said, rolling my eyes.

"On the contrary, actually," the red-haired girl smirked evilly in response.
