Jaina Ami POV

At the young age of eight, I recieved my lightsaber crystal from the caverns. Most of my fellow classmates recieved blue or green colored lightsabers, from the crystal that they chose, or whom the crystal chose. Mine was rare, it was purple, or as Jedi Master Rey likes to call it, Amtheyst, the same color as Mace Windu.

The kyber crystals we found were from icebound caves of Ilum.

It was strange, the crystal seemed to call me to it, from the far left side of the cavern, where all the Jedi Younglings did not go. They all tended to receive their crystal from the middle, or the right side of the cavern.

After a while, I became a Jedi Padawan, leaving many classmates behind, my masters thought I was ready, and soon after, I kept growing powerful, under the watchful eyes of the Jedi Grandmasters. When I turned 16, I was on the verge of becoming a Jedi Knight, until something stopped GrandMaster Rey.

I wasn't entirely sure what stopped her from letting me advance, maybe it was...uncertainty.

On my usual day, one would find me walking around with Feren, my best friend, before training would start. Like today.

"Feren," I laughed. "Stop making those faces!"

He made even more werid faces. I smacked his hand, to which he faked crying out loud in pain. His deep green eyes stared deep into mine, his shaggy brown hair shining from the light.

We'd met when we were around six years old, and together we've trained, never letting ego get in the way. It's amazing really.

As we walked through the old ruins of the temple, Feren stopped in his tracks. He turned around and started walking back to the entrance.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I forgot we were on guard duty," he said sheepishly.

Oh. I smiled, and as if our minds were in sync, we ran together, at the same pace. We put on the guard protecter uniform, and left to the outside part.

I touched my light saber, just to make sure it was there. We walked around in the green scenery, hidden from view by the the large branches.

We sat down on a trunk, the usual post for all guards on duty. Nothing usually happened, so it wasn't really necessary for guards, but Rey says one never knows.

A bit paranoid I suppose.

After maybe an hour of watching, we began to just talk about random stuff. It was usually like this, whenever Feren and I were put on guard duty.

"Jaina..." muttered Feren.

"Yes?"

"There's something I have been wanting to tell you," he said.

A rustle from the left side of the wood area caught my attention. By instinct, I forgot what Feren wanted to tell me, all attention was on that sudden rustle.

"I really really like-"

"Shh!" I whispered.

Ferens face looked hurt, his green eyes darted around confused, until he saw me pointing to the rustling.

I counted to three, since we both knew the attack plan.

On three, we jumped and what I saw was not what I expected. I had my purple lightsaber ready, as did Feren with his blue lightsaber.

But neither of us attacked what we saw.

A boy with dark brown hair and amber eyes stood in a scared position. His green lightsaber, in his hand. He turned it off, putting it away, and Feren did the same, but I kept mine on.

"Who are you?" I demanded. "What do you want?"

The boy stared at me, his eyes shifting over to the purple lightsaber.

"Hi. I'm Jason Kekein. I-i was sent by the eastern Jedi Temple, with Jedi Master Dahn Malloy," he explained.

I lowered my lightsaber, and looked at Feren. I wasn't completely trusting him, something about him...seemed off. Call it a hunch, I was not gonna let my guard down, I'd keep my eyes on him at all times if I need too.

"Well then,Jason," Feren said. "Let's go to our temple."

"Okay," he smiled. "Thank you for not...you know...splitting me in half with your purple lightsaber."

I raised my eyebrows at this mysterious new friend, if I can even call him a friend.

"Uh, sure, yeah, no problem," I murmured.
