I looked up from the note and the waterworks began.
Luke looked worried.
"what's wrong?" I handed him the letter. I didn't care if he knew how I felt anymore. He studied the letter and than looked over at me,
"what does he mean 'Erica and she deserves to be with Luke' "
Desiree backed up a little,
"Do you want me to leave?"
"NO!" I stayed, " it's fine." I then brought my attention to Luke, "
ok, the reason I texted you last night ,the thing about missing you is, I really do miss you, and I really like you, maybe even love a little.." His blue eyes sparkled a little. His bleach blond hair was spike at the tip and made him look amazing.
"uh" His mouth hung open.
"I would love to stay longer, but I need to find my brother, and according to the letter he's going to Maine." We lived in Washington. "Thank you Luke, I had a great time with you but I have to go. I'll see you around." I grabbed my jacket and ran out the door with Desiree.
We were almost to the car when I heard a familiar voice behind me,
"Wait Erica," Luke was running after me. It was like something that only happens in movies. I looked at him as he approached me in his fitted jeans and letterman jacket. "Erica, that's why I wanted to meet you there." He panted
"why" I knew why I just wanted him to say it.
" 'cause I am in love with you." I was relieved and a smile broke out on my face, and Desirees, I could tell. "And I wanted.to be done with girls that I don't love. I've always liked you, but you never.seemed interested, so I dated others hoping you would be jelous. When you said I miss you I could see my door opening. I want to quit dating them, and be with you!" Luke blurted out. I was amazed at his speech I cried a little.
Luke picked me up off the ground, and kissed me while spinning in circles. It was definitely like a movie now. It felt magical. This was my first kiss ever (besides family) and with the boy I loved. After what fell like hours he set back down on the ground and smiled. Desiree spoke up for from behind, I had almost forgotten she was there.
"As happy as I am for you, we have to go."
"of course" I turned back to Luke, "I'll text you a lot, don't worry."
" Wait can I go with you. Brian has been like a brother to me, and I want to help." Luke said.
" Yes ,but what about your family?" I asked.
" He is family. My parents will understand, and my brothers wouldn't even notice." He stated.
" Of course now let's go, we have to find him." Desiree snapped. You could tell from her voice how much she cared about him.
Luke opened the door for me, and we both got in the back so we could be by each other. We held hands as we drove to the airport. We were in a race against time. We didn't know where Brian was, if he drove or flew. Maybe he walked but we couldn't take chances by driving. We had to get there before Brian.
After the security check we boarded the plane. Desiree sat window, I sat middle, and Luke was next to me, gripping my hand. Three seats wide in a plane sounds st trying strange for window seats, but that's how it was. The whole flight we held hands. while sleeping or awake, neither of us let go. We were both so happy to know we were together.
