The next morning I rolled over , and Desiree was up getting ready.
" Oh good your awake, wake your boyfriend up. We have to get a jump on our day." It felt good to hear Luke be called my boyfriend.
"What time is it?" I stuttered.
"3:00am."
I shook my head and shook Luke's shoulder.
"wake up. Luke we need to get up." within seconds he jumped up,
"Okay." he said without hesitation. That's one way we were different, I want a morning person.
He was fully dressed in his clothes from the day before. I on the other hand took a while to get ready. once I was ready we left the hotel quietly leaving other guests to rest in peace.
We walked to the subway in the city and took it almost to the cliff. We walked the rest of the way until we reached the cliff. It looked much larger than in any picture. Luke was good at making estimates and he thought it would take at least three days to climb it.
We hadn't seen Brian at all, and for all we knew he had already jumped. The cliff was like a mountain out of a picture; beautiful but scary up close.
"Well it's a race of time," Desiree claimed," there's not a better time than now to start climbing this best." We started the climb. It was a straight up climb with a few plato areas to stop and rest. We had all our luggage with us (which wasn't much), and climbed until we couldn't go any further in that day. Luke and I set up a cheap tent Desiree found in a small store.
" Can you hand me the pole behind you." Luke requested .
" Yeah sure." I reached over and the rock let loose.
I was on the edge of the cliff and slipping to my death. Everything in my life flashed through my head trying to savor the last few possible moments, and hold my memories close.
This could be the end for me.
