Eve paced around the library. Flynn still hadn't gotten back from a dangerous mission that he had insisted on going on alone. That left Eve alone with Cassandra, Jenkins, Ezekiel, and Jacob. A doorbell rang and Ezekiel was Ezekiel and went to go open it, saying something about pizza. Eve didn't bother caring since it had been about a month since anything interesting had happened... a month since Flynn had left. Eve sighed, thinking of the librarian that had at first helped assure her life was safe, then insisted on working alone, and had stolen something. Not just one thing, actually, but a thing important to her. Her heart.
"hey, guys! Come here!" Ezekiel's voice yelled. "There's a something interesting that might get stolen or pick-pocketed if you don't hurry up!" Eve groaned as she stood up from the couch, Cassandra, Stone, and Jenkins following her to the door, where a face they had been waiting to see yet was.
"Well, if I'm going to have this kind of effect on you guys, maybe I should either just stay here or keep leaving," Flynn said.
"Flynn!" Cassandra squeaked, elated to see the librarian.
"Finally! I don't have to babysit for you!" Jenkins said, going back inside. Flynn laughed, his arm around Cassandra in their hug. His smile faltered at the sight of Eve but quickly reformed, and Eve wondered why.
"Well, now that he's back, I'll be going to a bar," Stone said, obviously planning a bar fight.
"Nuh-uh, I don't think so!" Eve said.
"yes kids, listen to your mother," Flynn teased, face completely serious. He laughed when Eve punched his arm lightly, and he put his other arm around her shoulders as they walked back into the library.
"Flynn Carsen!" Eve said, clearly not too angry. Stone and Ezekiel were following them into the library.
"so, no pizza?" The latter asked. Flynn laughed again, throwing Ezekiel a pizza.
"So, librarian, where did you go?" Eve asked, wanting answers.
"Well, I went to Rome, Italy, and a couple of other interesting places. I'll tell you all about it later," he promised. Lifting his arms from around Eve and Cassandra, he looked around his workspace, muttering about how he was sure he had left it in there.
"Cassandra, you can go," Flynn said. "You can go do whatever," Cassandra skipped away, and Eve was wondering why he wanted to talk to her alone, until she felt his lips against hers, Flynn's touch on her waist very gentle, kissing her softly and cautiously, but never pulling away.
"I missed you," Eve said as they broke apart, Flynn putting his forehead to hers.
"You have no idea," Flynn said.
"Carsen just shut up and kiss me!" Eve said, and Flynn laughed, not denying her her request. They pulled away after a couple minutes, Flynn with a very serious expression on his face.
"I'm going to have to leave again," he said darkly, putting his forehead on hers.
"Already?"
"Eve, im sorry, but yes already,"
"How soon?"
Flynn's breath caught in his throat as he said, "Tomorrow morning,"
"No! Why can't you take a break?" Eve said.
"Baird just shut up and kiss me!" Flynn mimicked what Eve had said not too long ago. Eve obliged with his wishes.
